Metamask, Swap feature || Airdrop || Gas Fees

When you wake up from a very good sleep and check your wallet (Erc20), if you find couple of hundred bucks just lying there, will not you be surprised? I bet, I would! In fact, it kind of happened with me in the last few days. No kidding but crypto can be a vast land of surprises!

There will be hard to find someone who does not like surprises! Yup, I am talking about the recent airdrops and all the hassles going on in crypto. The recent airdrops of coins on crypto hodlers have been the talk of the town. Airdrops like UNI, 1inch and so on have made some great buzz amongst users. Keeping that in mind there are various predictions being made about some upcoming project's airdrops.

METAMASK

Keeping that in mind, there has been a lot of buzz happening about one of the most anticipated project's airdrop. I am talking about METAMASK's Airdrop! Yeah, this is probably a rumor or the truth. There are plenty of users who have been using Metamask services for their everyday transactions. They recently introduced SWAP service on their wallet.

I was looking to use the Swapping service of Metamask for some time. But the excruciating gas fees of ETH network was stopping me every time, I tried going for it. Do you want to know why? Yeah, just a sec!

Let me breakdown, what actually happened in the transaction above! I tried the swap service of Metamask. The total transaction cost me around $78 or 0.041 ETH. I tried looking out for best option and I ended up with the UNI coin of Uniswap. The current price of 1 UNI is around $20. I swapped 0.5 UNI for the price of $78 by the swapping service of Metamask. Yeah, I know this is crazy right. What kind of idiot would do that? Well, the kind which might not want to be left out if or any airdrop of Metamask happens in the coming days and I would have regret about the fact of not using the feature even though I was literally told million times by my friends ;) This is more like a charity, which would eventually come back at me like a boomerang !

Now you may ask, why does it cost this much?

As you can see below, there are multiple transactions taking place for the swap. And we all are aware how much Gas fees we have to pay for each transaction of ETH network. This is disastarous. In fact, I would have never used it if not for that rumor.

I am still not 100% confirm, over the news of airdrop by metamask but just making sure if it ever happens, I do not get left out for not trying out this feature. This is just an act of hunch and some desperation of not feeling regret in the future ;)

If you want to try out the feature, use the metamask extension and try the swapping feature of it. While you are swapping, do make sure that you are swapping the right coin by confirming the address on etherscan.
