I can relate what you are saying. One of my cousin was saying the other say, she oppened a saving account, 1k a month. I was like 12k for the whole year! It's such a small amount but she was so proud that she made it.
Money works different for everyone. And I learned to respect everyone's sweat behind it.
And about Hive/steem; we have come a long way. There was a time when curator's vote weight was $10 and getting them on a daily basis was a dream. Now look at what's happening.
I always say to new users, just hang in there time will change for you too.
