¡III Parte del Significado de Emuná! / Part III of the Meaning of Emunah!!

In today’s installment I will continue to comment on the meaning of the Word Emunah. In previous deliveries I have criticized the idea spread by Christianity that whatever I ask of God, I will get it if I have enough faith; that is, under this line of thinking, to get something I have asked of God will depend on my faith. If I get it is a demonstration that I have had faith that God would give it to me; but what happens when it does not occur or I do not get what I have asked God in the way I have desired? Does this mean I didn’t have enough faith? Undoubtedly faith plays a fundamental role in all aspects of my relationships with God, because as our consciousness develops His Presence in our life becomes more evident and therefore increases my certainty not only of His existence, but also of His love for me.

I consider that is a partial view of what actually happens, and it can even be misleading, with the intention of dominating and controlling the "believers". The Emunah is that my faith in God does’t need any proof or to be tested, that even could includes the fact that God may not respond to my requests because it is not the best thing for my life. Notice the conceptual difference between not getting what I want because God is protecting me compared to developing the belief that I don’t have enough faith in God and all the effects it would have on my self-esteem and my relationship with God.

When I refer to the Emunah, I mean that faith will develop in me over time, that as my faith increases my confidence in Him also increases, since I will come to understand and feel that He is always in charge of every situation; but under one particular condition, that I let Him act, I must be able to step aside and leave everything in His hands. Remember that you and I have free will, it means that I can always choose between trying to resolve any situation in my life on own way or entrusting it to God so that He will act for my own good and interest. If I decide to act in my own way, not including God, He will not intervene because He respects my decision. The healthiest thing I can do in all my performances in my life is to always invite God to act through me; that means I must act as a conscious instrument of God.

I recommend that you begin to act as that conscious instrument of God, make him a participant in everything you do, think, feel; talk to God all the time, feel surrounded, held by God's hands, covered by his wings, just as hens protect their chicks. Use your imagination, surrender with faith and you will become aware of all the miracles that occur at all times in your life. Marvel at all that you will be discovering in your life. An additional recommendation is that you should not ask God to do His will (your will) towards any person, no matter how close you are, ask God to fulfill His will (God's will) in that person's life and stay calm and let Him act and you will see how things will always change for the better, even if you do not like the results. That is Emuna.
