Pick n Pay Works with CryptoQR to Accept Bitcoin In South Africa
How do you use crypto in real life? Do you use crypto directly to pay for services or buy goods and services? If you do not have options to use crypto directly, you usually convert crypto into fiat currency to use in daily life.
The good news is, Pick n Pay starts pilot testing to add Bitcoin as a payment option to buy goods and services. People can use Bitcoin directly to do different things. Pick n Pay collaborates with CryptoQR to implement this so that people can pay with Bitcoin in South Africa.
I like Bitcoin to see as a long-term investment. It is better to have Bitcoin than gold. Bitcoin holds its value over time. Bitcoin price fluctuates, but it has a store of value. If you see BTC in the long term, Bitcoin price goes up.
If you want to use Bitcoin to pay utility bills like electricity, and airtime, or do other things to make payments, you can do that. Pick n Pay works on that so that people can use BTC in that way in South Africa.
We dream of going crypto mainstream. It will not happen automatically. When more and more people can see what they can do with crypto and use crypto in their life, that will be the turning point. The government may not be friendly to accept crypto and let its citizen use it, but at some point, they have no choice.
Companies and businesses will use blockchain technology in order to survive and do better in the market. Nowadays, you see how companies use the internet for the growth and development of their business. They will start using blockchain technology.
Maybe when you talk about blockchain to general people, they have no idea what you just said. It will change soon. When you say internet, you do not need to explain what the internet is. Everyone knows about it. Likewise, you do not need to explain crypto and blockchain in the future because people know about them.

I was under the assumption that South Africa was against crypto and I wonder if the government will start making changes. Maybe I am just mixing things up with Nigeria. From what I see, I wonder if the government will stop the transactions and if things will still work when it does.
