Canada's Failed Leadership | Rant Time

Dear Canadians,

For everyone affected by this Rogers outage yesterday that cannot use their banking, internet, phone, or anything...

Do you really want a completely cashless society? Do you really want your government to control who can do and say what? Do you really want single entities such as this to have this much power and control over your life?

It might sound crazy, but imagine if they were to shut down all of these services because you shared a different opinion than the people in charge share?

What if it were that easy? We have already seen it.

That's already happened and it happened right in front of our eyes just months ago with the truckers at the capital. Bank accounts froze and all. You can love or hate the truckers, but everyone should be against the extent that our government took it.

What if they were able to control and turn off the switch based on how and what you post online?

That would be outlandish right? This is Canada. The true north strong and "free".

Guess what? The government just gained that control over you.

I think Canadians need to get their head out of the sand and take a look at this Bill C-11 that our precious federal government just got passed us.

Your posts on certain sites can end up being held to the same standards as the Broadcasting Act based on their own guidelines. They hide it under the pretence that it protects others when it is about absolute control. Your social media posts will be regulated by the CRTC. They could have specified against the little guys, but purposefully ignored those arguments and rammed it through. This bill gives them broad, unprecedented regulatory authority. Think about that for a moment.

One would think this approach was meant for massive content creators, but it's been left wide open because being slithery is what our leader has been about for quite some time. This is not a conspiracy theory. Take 20 minutes to verify sources. Go to the government of Canada website yourself.

What do you think happens when they have control of what you can say and control of all your assets? They've already shown us this. All of a sudden your opinions can be subject to losing everything. I have been reading a ton of 20th century Soviet Union this last while and this reeks of similarities in how we are choosing to handle our issues. There is nothing proactive about these measures. Nothing. These are steps backwards and continue to make our society weaker.

If you think when you give entities this much power that they will not use it for their own narratives, you're delusional. It's like state TV; no differing opinions are allowed. Guess what? At some point, it will be YOUR opinions not allowed. Follow up and see what fellow countries this will put us in a category with. Once governments take your rights, you do not get them back.

These new rules make this post here unacceptable and worthy of retribution, as it does not follow their rules. Are my opinions here dangerous? Should I not be allowed to have them? There certainly is a load of evidence to support these claims. If you can read & think critically, you are capable of deciphering what is going on.

We are looking more like communist China (politically) with each passing month but as long as our supreme leader keeps taking these photo ops and virtuous stances on surface issues (that in itself is creating division), people seem just dandy to bend over and take it, no questions asked.

My fellow Canadians, has your life gotten better in the last 6 years due to government policy? Are you happier? Is life any easier?

The excuse that Canada has it better than so many other countries is irrelevant and doesn't mean that every single person in this country shouldn't be livid at the direction this is heading.

This guy invoked the emergency act with the military on our truckers protesting PEACEFULLY. That is as insane as it sounds. Look up how European leaders recently welcomed our leader into their chambers as a result of that decision.

I say good on the truckers for forcing a weasel to come out of its hole and give a response for once; even though it was a horrible response resembling an authoritarian dictator. That is about the least Canadian approach he could've taken and the world was watching.

Please, look past the photo ops and pay attention to what has been going on here. Turn off the Canadian legacy media because they play for that team, not yours. Take some time to use your internet to see what many other parts of the world are saying about us...while you still have that ability to do that.

Wake up.

  • I understand that people from different corners of the world may read this and think things are not that bad in comparison to other places. While we have many amazing things to be proud of, these are some of the most trying times I have witnessed in my 40 years in this country. While things could always be much worse, I feel it is important to stand up for these freedoms before they keep getting plucked away.

I know some folks that fled the country, and some that are thinking of moving out as well. Very sad times

It is sad that most do not even care to look at it either.
