Changes to the Starbits Millionaire Mission

avatar
(Edited)

Nq5Lj1654355893.png

As every Rising Star player knows the Starbits Millionaire mission is OP (Over Powered).
You can get your 1 million STARBITS back in 100 days if you run the mission every day.

It has been a great incentive for people to start playing Rising Star and we have left it unchanged since we launched it in August 2020 however we feel it is now time to make a change.

Change 1

Rising Star is a game and should be about progressing your music career by growing your fanbase and moving on through higher missions to eventually tour the world, not staying in your little home town and just counting your royalties!
With this in mind the following change will be implemented on Monday 27th June:

The number of fans required to run the mission will be related to the number of times you have run the mission.

So if you have been playing the game as intended the change probably won't affect you at all. If you've simply been bumming around Home Town and neglected your career then you may have some work to do!

The calculation is as follows:

1000 + (100 x number of Starbits Millionaire missions you have run).

So let's say you have run the mission 100 times then you would need 11,000 FANS to run the mission (1000 + (100 x 100)).

Change 2 - Get a 10% Bonus

Screenshot 2022-06-07 at 05.35.51.png

We will also be implementing a bonus system in a similar way to above but based on the STARPRO that you hold (both in-game and on Hive Engine).

The STARPRO price in this calculation will change as needed but as an example:

If you hold 0.03 STARPRO x number of Starbits Millionaire missions you have run then you will get a 10% bonus on the Millionaire Mission.

The "0.03" will change as the STARBITS & STARPRO prices change but the goal is to allow you to get back 1000 STARBITS for the same cost as buying the equivalent STARPRO (or earning it in Music Promoter) and holding it.

Example

Let's say you have run the Millionaire Mission 10 times and the current STARPRO price is 0.03 STARPRO = 1000 STARBITS.
To get the bonus the next time you run the mission you would need to hold 0.3 STARPRO (0.03 x 10).

REMEMBER: STARPRO has a fixed supply of 100 per day (+20 that goes to the game account for future us and/or burning).

This change will also be implemented on Monday 27th June

Conclusion

As always we thank you for your support and hope that you will see that the above is a positive change for the future of the game.

We are also thinking of other ways to reward STARPRO holders as we add more features in the future.

I expect many of you will have feedback and as always we will take your views on board.

The above is subject to change before 27th June.

Please also ensure you read the terms and condition in game related to issuing of the STARBITS Millionaire card if you are planning to apply.

Hi @jux,

Part 1 is a great update to incentivize players to really play and not just rake in SB but with a total daily supply of 100 Starpro and whales who split those 100 Starpro almost every day between them, normal players are left out of that part of the game.

We will make adjustments to the game if the STARPRO price continues to climb. We don't plan to leave anyone out.

so the "intended" way to play is to get 11000 fans in 100 days. and the only way to get fans is to buy more cards. means the starbits procured by millionaire mission is not to be earned but must be spend to buy more cards. everytime you do the mission, make sure to buy a card that have 100+ fans to cover the cost.

so the next question is, is it BASE fan or current fans we have? (boosted fans).
and for one who wonder about the roi, maybe the time extended almost double depends on the market price of the cards used to cover the 100 fans / use cost.

Luyckily enough I buy a fair amount of cards, regularly.
so even if I did 624 millionnaire missions already, I am still far ahead :-)
With a very decent ROI.

So yeah, that change is good for the sustainability.
but again makes weakness in multiaccounting, probably hard work for the team to check accounts, i guess.

Same here, I am far ahead of the calculation and will continue to buy cards to keep ahead of the game

I like to see such changes implemented that favorise an organic way of playing and actually gives more value to the cards in the game. Let's get more fans!

Ok, back focus to buy the packs again instead of buying for the collection first >< buying for the collection ~ fewer fans but more unique cards.

Basically, every day you're encouraged to get 100 more fans. Hopefully this will increase the value of starbits too! At first I didn't like the update, but the more I thought about it, the better it is for the overall long term growth of the game, Nice one!

question on change 2 - is the 0.03 starpro burned every time you run the mission, or does it stay in your wallet and just a holding pattern?

Had time to think about it and calm down. Not mad anymore 😅 Surprised is more fitting. Grinded hard for the card and just got it like 2 weeks ago. Reading the changes after waking up (and not understanding it lol) made the rest for me.

I had other plans ofc. Wanted to gather 1 million SB and sell - after that would've gone for cards. Well, I'll need to change the plan, but I see that the changes are important for the game. Just wasn't the best timing for me.

Good work!

Maybe a good move to stabilize the exchange rates a little bit better in the long term. We will see...

You're aware that the Diesel Pool for StarPro is going to dry out, aren't you? It will last more or less only for the next 11 days atm.

And there is no incentive to leave the StarPro there.

Interesting calculations and interesting/clever changes - brains, brains, brains - I must admit, these changes will make the game more exciting and, of course, more sustainable. No doubt, the brains behind and project make it bloom and successful.

Above words could lie on the "flattery zone" but, IMHO, Rising Star game and the team deserve them.

I love that they make it difficult for those who only come to skin the projects and then leave saying it's a scam. I would love to make it impossible for them to do that, but it's hard, Splinterlands has done great on that, I hope Rising can too, I want to rack up the million starbits but it's hard.

Well, this is good news, as it brings stability to the market and milking gets a little harder.

Think that I will need more fans in the end, as I have the card for over a year, but that is a good incentive.

Sadly, the price of STARBITS is going to crater as a result of this announcement. Most of the market demand for STARBITS was tied to accumulating them to get the millionaire card. That demand will likely fall considerably with the rule change and also cause a number of current millionaire card holders to put their million STARBITS up for sale, further pressuring prices lower. The unintended consequences here could be quite significant.

I'm new millionaire and I'm watching the price fall. I'm not too worried because I like this game. Ive been doing that mission for 2.5 weeks. I now need a plan on what cards to buy. Would that be fan/skill or just fan cards and instruments?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Based on my understanding of this gameplay change, the focus is on requiring players to purchase cards that increase the total number of fans.

In order to comply with the new requirements most efficiently, you'll want to focus your purchases on cards that have the lowest price per 100 fans. As long as you can acquire new cards for less than 10,000 STARBITS per 100 fans then the millionaire mission would remain profitable (but much less so than now).

I would have rather seen a skill level requirement for continuing to use the millionaire card, but it's obvious they are trying to juice card sales just like the introduction of the millionaire card was meant to increase the price of STARBITS in the beginning. Alternatively, the millionaire card could have required a purchase price of 1 million STARBITS and then they burn all or most of those tokens... but hindsight is 20/20.

I have been buying rare guitars over the last week. I'm ok with buying some cards. Maybe the fan skill cards instead of the instrument cards?

I'm not very smart and I'm new to this but it would seem that I would have to buy a fan card every day and run several lessons a day to keep up. I'll do that but I wonder if others will.

Hopefully someone will right a post about the perfect new strategy.

The instrument cards only add to your luck, so if your goal is to keep up with the increasing fan requirement for the millionaire mission then you'd want to purchase the musician cards for the fans.

thanks for the response. So would it be better to buy fanskill cards or musician cards? It seems that I would really need to do the millionare mission and lessons only to keep up because of ego. I'm trying to figure this all out.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Based on what I'm seeing in the card marketplace, it makes the most sense to purchase musician cards. If your goal is to increase your fan count as cheaply as possible, buy the cards with the cheapest price per 100 fans.

For example, right now I'm seeing cards with 125 fans selling for around 9,000 STARBITS. That would equal a cost of 7,200 STARBITS per 100 fans. So if you need to buy 100 fans per day to keep the millionaire mission going, you would profit 2,800 STARBITS each time you run the mission.

0
0
0.000

thanks for that. So I'm wondering after I do a millionaie mission would I just do guitar lessons to balance my ego and then do any mission I can to grab up some starbits.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That sounds like a good plan and is exactly the strategy I have been using since getting my millionaire card. I do the millionaire mission once a day, then will run a lesson mission if my ego is getting to high, otherwise I'm running the highest level regular mission I qualify for.

I love this game and I am sure that every proposed change is for the best. On the other hand, the changes to implement do not affect me at all, because my goal since I joined is to grow my account, I enjoy collecting the cards and go up a level, plus every month I aim to increase a certain number of fans and then I celebrate every victory.

P.S: I was thinking that by implementing these changes, the marketplace cards will go up much more, because there will be more demand; however, I think it would be more favorable for the game if we could buy the packs, but many times they don't bring fans, so I usually buy the cards in the external market. I think it would be good that with this new requirement to increase 100 fans every time we do a millionaire mission, every pack we buy would have at least 100 fans, which would stimulate this internal market and keep the prices of the external market under control. I don't know if this is a crazy idea, it just occurred to me.

Thank you for taking care of the economy of the game and for doing it so well.

Nice changes though for some reason, the abrupt requirements for the Starbits Millionaire Mission might be a little too harsh to some. I like these changes to stay but can be modified like the ego mechanics. Using the above example : you need 11k fans to get 100% of the 10k starbits for the mission, but if you only have a fraction of it, let say you only have 5.5k fans then you only get 50% of 10k which is 5k starbits.

Great change and update around the Millionaire card, I always wondered how it could be sustainable long-term with the growth of players but this update should work wonders, encourages people to play and purchase newer cards/packs to counter balance themselves out which in result should up their general Starbit earnings per mission from purchasing said NFT or Pack.

One of the best choices I did early on in my Rising Star career was save up every Starbit I had to go towards packs, luckily enough managed to land a legendary! But I would've never had that luck if all I did was cash out at every opportunity. Can see this change encouraging a lot more trading and pack opening!

Great job Jux & Julie, have a great week.

I have mixed feelings about this, I am currently trying to get up to 900 fans to do the record a demo mission. In the journey of building my starbits up to buy cards to earn fans i have done illegal bustings close to a 100 times in an effort to find pizzas after i do the saturday night headlines. Also mind you after 50 illegal buskins i got a 50 starbit reward, but now after the update I wont be able to do any of those missions because i dont have 5000 plus fans. which means i go to local gig circuit, which i can only do the first few missions which pay was less meaning more mission run which equals to needing more fans to do the run. so it feels what use to be a reward is now a punishment.

As a brand new Millionaire (3 weeks) I'm pleased by the change right now but I get it. I'm getting addicted to the game so won't mind buying more cards. I just need to learn the best strategy to do. Right now I only buy rare instruments for lessons.

Also, I would love to find some tutorials about starpro.

Maybe I am wrong but on the current prices, it will be very hard to get cards with enoufgh fans to compensate for that. Maybe I am missing something. The ROI of the SB Millionaire goes down by far.

I am even thinking of stopping now and selling my half million SB with a loss. Do I miss something?

my thoughts exactly, ive invested every starbit ive made and still dont have 900 fans, but yet ive done some missions a hundred times, and now im expected to pull 10000 fans?

I've done the same calculations and right now it costs about 8000 STARBITS to buy 100 fans via card purchases on the marketplace. That will likely increase once these changes take effect, but since the payoff of the millionaire card is 10,000 STARBITS and you'll need to add 100 fans per day to keep it going, the cost/benefit is gone especially because the millionaire mission only provides STARBITS and nothing else in exchange for running it.

These changes are good but the transition to it should be done in a better way.
Lets say rising star start to sell millionaire card 2.0 from 27 of June those buyers already accept the new agrements. But do we want old players leave the game because their Roi is suddenly way longer? A possible solution, from today all old millonaire card owners can finish their 100 missions if done daily in the next 100 days important for those who got the card recently/today. So please execute such big changes precisely to avoid a drop in our playerbase. @risingstargame keep up the good work

Panicked a bit when I read the headline as like many others - this mission is part of my core daily routine! Looking at the detail I think it's a good change - and I have loads more fans than needed at the current time to be able to do the mission and planning to add more too.

I think basically it's stops people from doing the millionaire mission if that's the ONLY thing they want to do and nothing else which makes loads of sense.

Keep up the great work!
