# 947 - Ships on Coins - Part 26
I am very fond of ships on coins.
I know that many people share this fondness. I have a few coins depicting ships.
So, I will post a series called "Ships on Coins" and I will show all the coins that I have on this theme.
There will be no order of presentation or country of issue. As the coins are stored in several places, I will simply search on each place and publish those that I found.
The twenty sixth is a MS65 1936 "Delaware" Half Dollar.
A commemorative coin was approved to mark the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the landing of the Swedes in Delaware. Known as the Delaware Tercentenary Half Dollar, this issue is associated with a confusing array of dates. The date on the obverse is 1936, the coins were struck in 1937, and the anniversary date on the reverse is 1938.
This coin weights 12.5g, with 90% silver purity.
The reverse depicts the ship Kalmar Nyckel, which brought Swedish settlers to the country.

I didn't realize that Delaware also had a ship on the reverse!
The ship that brought the Swedes to America.

The ship Kalmar Nyckel looks like a beauty @ronaldoavelino!! I didn't know about this Swedish ship, history books have left this information out...🙄
To refresh your memory.

We have a tall mast sailing ship here in Bellingham. I've watched her go out in the bay from the port and it's quite a site to behold. I can almost imagine what it must have felt like to be on the Kalmar Nyckel ship under all those sails!
I have to also say, I have only been on one boat (a large ferry boat) and really am not much of a sailor. I don't swim, lol! Anyway, it might be cool to experience it once........with a life vest of course! Take care!
Don't let the opportunity of sailing a tall mast ship go away. Of course, life vests are mandatory...

Maybe if this pandemic ever goes, we might just book the cruise. Did I mention it's usually a dinner cruise as well? Take care my friend!
Wondering if my "semi-adopted daughter" @kerrislravenhill has seen this?
I doubt she got lost here like I did. lol!
No, @punkysdad at least not from @ronavel's perspective but I'd like to get this coin one day. PD Keep this one in mind this coming Christmas. hint 😉
