My Hive Story

It's always a blessing to hop on amazing trends here on the Hive Blockchain. It's been a while since participated in a trend like this. The last hive challenge I participated in was steem 777 pushup twitter challenge by @nathanmars.
For the #myhivestory challenge, seatback and enjoy my responses to the asked questions.

How long have you been on the Blockchain?

I have been on the Blockchain since July 2016 (5years and 5months ago).
I wish the number of years you've been on the Blockchain determines how wealthy one would be. I would be one of the richest dudes on earth today.

What was your background in cryptocurrency when you first came to the Blockchain?

I honestly can't remember if I had ever heard of Blockchain or crypto before July 2016 But I'm sure I was a total newbie to cryptocurrency when I came to Blockchain. I fell in love with it the first time 😜

What was your background in writing when you first came to the Blockchain?

Before Blockchain, I tried to gain a few digital skills which include, coding, animation, and so on, but writing was never part of it. But Blockchain has shaped me to have a taste of different skills and I am thankful for that.

How many people did you know when you first came to the Blockchain?

I don't know anyone who was already on the Blockchain before me. However, I made friends on the Blockchain via a steemit workshop meetup organized by @oluwoleolaide 1 year after.

How did you meet people when you first came to the Blockchain?

Outside blockchain, trying to meet people deals with engagement. This is the same on traditional social media. This process is also not different on web3 social media platforms too. I made friends on the Blockchain by interacting via their contents.

Who did you look up to when you first came to the blockchain?

Starting on a Blockchain-based social media platform was one of the best things that could ever happen to a newbie. It allows users to directly communicate with top authors, whales, and fav content creators.
On the steem Blockchain, I looked up to a few authors for so many reasons which include the type of content they published or how they responded to my comments back then. Here are a few ones I could remember @juliank @papa-pepper @gavvet @stellabelle @netuoso @surpassinggoogle @stackin and @nathanmars

How would you describe your first three months on the blockchain?

I would say; First time at everything is always very difficult. Starting Blockchain for the first time was never different. After I registered on steemit in July 2016, I left it until September 2017 before I came back to it. So, My first three months were nothing to write home about. 😞

Has being a part of the blockchain changed you in any way for the good?

Yes! it has. To this day, I still appreciate @josediccus for encouraging me to get back to Blockchain after I introduced it to him in September 2017. Ever since then, my life has changed for the better. I and Josediccus are a true testimony to Blockchain Technology.

What is your favorite memory from your time on the blockchain?

As stated in one of the questions above, I tried to gain myself a few digital skills(programming for example) before Blockchain Technology. Even though I didn't achieve these skills as expected, I was able to moderate for @utopian-io which rewards open source projects.

My time with this steemit project was amazing. I was exposed to how codes work, and I got the chance to operate on an external interface that was built on the steemit Blockchain. I love programming skills and this project gave me unforgettable memory of how projects could be built on the Blockchain.

If you could give advice to a new person signing up to Hive what would it be?

  • New Hivers needs to know that this platform doesn't reward lazy asses or those who spam/plagiarise. So, before registering an account here, make sure the contents you'll publish must be yours.
  • Post & community engagement is another very important aspect of the Hive Blockchain. You should always engage in posts that interest you. Also, join, participate, and follow community rules that fit your type of content.
  • Consistency in everything we do as humans matter a lot. I have a few times blamed myself for taking a break from here and not achieving any good outside Blockchain. Don't ever do that mistake. If In case you find it difficult at first, keep up with the good works. With time, you'll build yourself, your content lovers.

As I have read other responses to this challenge, I'd like to use this opportunity to say thank you to @snook, @whatsup, and @shadowspub for bringing this up. Also, thanks to @burlarj for participating. His hive story was the first one I read.
