Here Comes The Sun - Just One Thing

Every Day I greet my fellow work colleagues. As I am a work from home remote worker, I greet them on Teams, I always greet them with an image of the Sunrise, A different image every day, either one I have taken or one that is in the select gifs on offer, ( Common Licence of course)

The sunrise depicts the start of the day, although my day starts usually before the sunrise, and one of my work colleagues is on the other side of the world so there work day starts mid afternoon for them. However generally the sun rise depicts the start of the day for most.

It also denotes that the day is going to be a bright and sunny day, full of the feeling of joy when the sun rises and full of warmth. All of these concepts extend to feeling of wellbeing, laughter and happiness.

Unless of course you are vicariously enjoying the sun while looking out the window sitting at your office desk , lol

and why is it we say Enjoy the sun, what does that mean, after all the sun can also cause ill upon people if they spend too much time out in it.

The sun in fact does provide us with one of the most important vitamins and in fact is the best way to absorb this through direct exposure, and that is Vitamin D. Vitamin D is very important for many things.

  • It helps absorb Calcium and is the best nutrient for Building up and maintaining bone health
  • It helps strengthen the muscles in your body
  • It will support your immune system and help fight inflammation and infections
  • It will help strengthen your gut
  • It will strengthen your oral health
  • It will help prevent Diabetes
  • It will help the treatment in hypertension
  • Because it supports and strengthens your gut, it will help you lose weight
  • It will help with Depression and mental health
  • It has also been researched and is known to help reduce the risk of certain cancers, this makes sense as it supports and strengthens many aspects of mind and body

These are just some of the benefits of Vitamin D, If you do a search on Vitamin D you will find a plethora of information on its importance and its effects as well as the results of Deficiency
Even though the sun is the best method of vitamin D absorption through the skin, there are other sources, albeit not as efficient
these have been known to be

  • Mushrooms
  • Cheese
  • Egg Yolks
  • Fortified Milks
  • Fatty Fish such as Tuna, Salmon

So when we say Enjoy the Sun and associate it with happy good shining feelings it is actually true, through the Sun we absorb one of the most important Vitamins that we require for the good health of our Body and our minds.

Remember to ensure that you absorb as much as you can through exposure, and don’t cover yourself up too much when in the sun, bearing in mind that the sun can also be harmful if exposed for too long.
