A Long Walk and Some Family Time

Being a weekend, I got the chance to take my dog for an extra long walk in the morning. I always relish the opportunity to go on a proper ramble with Dandy.

While walking I listened to the new episode of Sentimental Garbage podcast. It was about ‘the highstreet’ and brought with it waves of nostalgia about hours and hours spent traipsing around my local shopping centre as a teen. With perhaps enough change in my pocket for a Subway we could lose a day window shopping. It sparked a memory of me and my friend heading into Burtons because they had a jukebox in there and queuing as many songs we thought were super cool as we could, and then promptly leaving before they were played cos we didn’t wna be spotted in a men’s clothes shop.

It was a pretty muddy day and so naturally I slipped over and caked myself in it (dog didn’t take any notice whatsoever). I found a tenner on the floor on the way home from the walk so that pretty much balanced it out.

After I got home my family descended to help decorate the house, the first time me and all five of my siblings have been under one roof in god knows how long. With them and their kids the roast I was planning on making turned out to be a lot more work than anticipated.

While I was cooking, my brother’s (35 and 37 years old) put WWF on, ostensibly for my nephew (7 years old). My nephew soon got bored and moved on while the two of them sat for a solid half an hour after, absolutely enthralled.

I finished off the dinner (for 14), which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, saw everyone out and got myself an early night. One of the most fulfilling and enjoyable Sundays I’ve had in a while.
