Hello dear friends of Hive and Sketchbook!!

Today I want to share with you one of the projects I have been working on. It is about an old explorer discovering the most ancient mysteries of magic together with a little fellow who lives in that mysterious library. For this project I was implementing several techniques, it also took me several days to study how textures worked on old people and the type of painting I wanted to give him. Here I bring my result and my first illustration of old people. I really enjoyed working on it and I hope you enjoy this post!

En el día de hoy les quiero compartir uno de los proyectos en los que he estado trabajando. Se trata de un viejo explorador descubriendo los misterios más antiguos de la magia junto a un pequeño compañero que habita en esa misteriosa biblioteca. Para este proyecto estuve implementando varias técnicas, también me tomo varios días en estudiar cómo funcionaban las texturas en las personas mayores y el tipo de pintado que quería darle. Aquí traigo mi resultado y mi primera ilustración de personas mayores. Realmente me gusto mucho trabajar en ello y espero que disfruten mucho de este post!

To start with this project the first thing I was doing was the sketch with the Lapiz 6B the sketch was made by hand on paper and then taking a picture of it passed to digital.

Para iniciar con este proyecto lo primero que estuve haciendo fue el boceto con el Lapiz 6B el boceto fue realizado a mano en papel y después al tomarle una fotografía pasado a digital.

After finishing the sketch I will start applying the flat colors according to the color palette I chose for this occasion.

Al finalizar con el boceto empezaré a aplicar los colores planos según la paleta de colores que elegí para esta ocasión.

After I have placed each color in its place I will start with the details. This part is always the longest and the one that will define the final result of my illustration. I will be applying each detail little by little and very smoothly until I get the right effect, for this I will be using the Crayon 1 and Crayon brushes.

Luego de haber colocado cada color en su lugar comenzaré con los detalles. Esta parte siempre es la más larga y la que definirá el resultado final de mi ilustración. Estaré aplicando cada detalle poco a poco y muy suavemente hasta conseguir el efecto correcto, para ello estaré implementando los pinceles de Acuarela 1 y los de Crayon

In the process I always alter some colors to make the illustration more vivid and not so dark. I also see if I add or remove details and I add more and more texture until the end. I love to paint clothes that look a bit old or stained hehe.

En el proceso siempre voy alterando algunos colores para darle más viveza a la ilustración y no que quede tan oscura. También veo si le agrego o le quito detalles y Agregó cada vez más textura hasta el final. Me encanta pintar ropa que tenga un estilo un poco vieja o que esté
manchada jeje

After I have done most of the details on the character I will move on to the background. It was a library, at the beginning it was a little difficult and even more the painting, but then it got lighter and lighter. When making the sketch I placed the flat colors based on the color palette of the character.

Después de haber realizado la mayor parte de detalles en el personaje pasaré al fondo. Se trataba de una biblioteca, al principio fue un poco difícil y más el pintado pero luego se fue aligerando bastante. Al realizar el boceto coloqué los colores planos basados en la paleta de colores del personaje.

He was merging the colors until he obtained the most favorable result. A warm atmosphere was what I wanted to achieve, with little light but without reaching absolute darkness where you can appreciate every object and detail.

Fui fusionando los colores hasta obtener el resultado más favorecer. Un ambiente cálido era lo que quería lograr, con poca luz pero sin llegar a la oscuridad absoluta en donde se pueda apreciar cada objeto y detalle de la ilustración.

I added small details of light and the little library friend next to him. Starting with this new character that was not planned, I did it directly on the canvas without any sketch. I added the flat colors and then details in crayon effect, and finally I merged him between the colors so he could enter the environment.

Fui agregando pequeños detalles de luz y al pequeño amigo de la biblioteca junto a él. Al empezar con este nuevo personaje que no estaba planeado, lo hice directamente en el lienzo sin boceto alguno. Fui agregando los colores planos y luego detalles en efecto a crayón, y para finalizar lo fusioné entre los colores para que pudiera entrar en el ambiente.

Before finishing I was enlarging the light on both characters, adjusting the colors and correcting some details.

Antes de finalizar estuve agrando la luz a ambos personajes, ajustando los colores y corrigiendo algunos detalles
