My voluntary program to commemorate the world's diabetes day

avatar

Goodday everyone 🤗, hope our day had been going on well??

Yesterday, 14th of November 2022 was a day set aside to create awareness for a non-communicable disease called "DIABETES". It is also a day used to celebrate people suffering from this sickness and make them feel loved amongst other people. Although, it is pertinent to show our love, care and support to anyone we know that's been affected by this disease and also remind them that it is never the end of the world.

One afternoon, I saw a post on my friend's whatsapp status showing a flier and link that contained a content of seeking volunteers for an outreach program of a voluntary organisation called "The Oasis innovative". It immediately caught my attention and I decided to considering giving it a shot since I like to be fully involved in volunteering for the society especially when it has to do with the health of other humans like me.

To cut the long story short, I registered through the link and I was verified to join them for the project. I was happy I was picked because i have the chance to give back to the society. I was even more happier because it involves the most horrible sickness that I dreaded the most. I lost my dad 4 years ago to diabetes and since then I try as much as possible to be careful and also educate people around me about diabetes.

The project was held on the 12th if November, 2022 to commemorate the world's diabetes day which was yesterday. Due to my previous knowledge about the sickness, I was able to fit in my unit where I was paired with another volunteer and asked to work, to test for people's blood sugar level. Though, we had other units such as registration unit, blood pressure unit, protocol unit, blood sugar unit, data entry unit, consultation unit, pharmaceutical care unit, health education unit and video and photography unit.

Below are the pictures taken at the project location;
