Vintage cars: Fiat 850

On my last walk around town for the weekend, it was a very sunny day, I saw a car that I remember from my youth because that was the second car that we had at the house. I was in the second grade of primary school when my father brought home a car like that.

It was still a small car for four people, but we could all squeeze in and go to the seaside or on a trip. We had a smaller one before and for me, as a ten-year-old, it was cool :)

Back to the car. This is a Fiat 850, built by the Italian Fiat car factory from 1964 to 1973. It was a small car, with rear engine and rear-wheel drive. There were several versions of this car, the most famous being the 'standard' with 34 hp (horsepower)/24kW and the super with 37 hp/28kW.
It also had a 'coupe' version and a 'spider' which was a Cabrio, without a roof.
Basically, this car could go up to 125 km/h, and those variants with a more powerful engine, 'super', 130 km/h.

Well, this one here is from an acquaintance of mine who lives in the US and comes back to the family house for holidays from time to time. He is probably here now because he has put the car in the sun a bit.
I'd have had a word with him but he wasn't at home at that moment.

The good thing is that this car is still in running condition. When he comes back, he drives it, because registering a veteran is much cheaper than either renting or registering a regular car.

We have quite a few of these veteran cars here. They're mainly owned by car mechanics and enthusiasts who regularly maintain them, organize meetings, and the like.
It seems to me like a kind of nostalgia for the 'good old days' 😁

Looks like I'll have to open a special section on old cars. A couple of weeks ago I shot another veteran car.
