Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration held on March 17 that is observed all around the world.

March 17 is the traditional death date of Saint Patrick who is considered the primary patron saint of Ireland.

Patrick was born late in the fourth century in what was then Roman Britain. He was kidnapped when he was a young man and brought to Ireland as a slave. During his captivity, Patrick became a devout Christian. He was able to escape and then spent many years in training for the priesthood.

After his ordination, and in response to a clear conviction of his life's purpose, Patrick returned to Ireland as a missionary with a vision for sharing the story of Christ with the Irish and ministering to the small number of Christians living in Ireland

“St Patrick’s Breastplate” is a prayer-hymn that is traditionally attributed to Saint Patrick.
