A pleated kaftan design I made today @smilestitiches😊.
Hello friends, I greet you all 🙋♂️ hope you all are doing perfectly well 😊 as you all know it’s actually your favorite boy @smilestitches at your screen again and am here to share with you guys an amazing outfit I made as usual for my client, as you all know this season is the season where most people love to sew new outfit to wear on Christmas Day and new year as well, as it is I have so many outfits am to sew and the ones have already finish sewing and delivered to the owners don’t worry i have pictures and I’ll be sharing how I made them one after another so just relax and stay connected to your favorite cloth brand @smilestitches, while I take you on an amazing adventure, stay with me friends 😊😃 let’s do this together 🤝.
This outfit am making is a formerly knew as kaftan so friend watch closely so you’ll get and understand all the twist I add to give this outfit a professional look.
My sewing items:
- My Ankara fabrics
- My yellow combat
- Tissue gum
- Paper gum
- A matching thread for both colors
My sewing processes:
Step 1:
I cut the Ankara fabric in the measurement of my client, after that I took the front I just finished cutting and as usual I ironed out a straight line at the middle of the front to guild me when designing the front so I won’t end up making a design that’s not straight.
Step 2:
After ironing out the front, I took the yellow fabric and I cut length of 24inches and size of 8inches and I cut my tissue cum same measurement and I gummed it to the back of the yellow fabric to make it a bit strong so the design I’ll be making will stay fame on the fabric.
So after I had gummed it to the back view, I then bend it and sew half inches each, the first half inches I sewed was at the top after I had left 7inches from the top of the fabric for the neck so I stated the designing from 7inches,
this special thing am doing on the yellow fabric is called “pleating” so I started the pleating from 7inches and the measurement I used in pleating was half inches so how I did it was after the first half inches, I measured and indicated another half inches then I started from where the next half inches stopped and I sew another half inches there that was how I did till I completed the first round of and after that i measure 3inches and I continued the second round from there using same half inches measurements to see them till the end.
Step 3:
After I was done with the pleating I took it to my ironing table and ironed out the middle on that yellow pleated combat fabric, after the straight line was made, I then place it at the front of the fabric and I sew it together,
after that I then cut my paper gum size of 3inches, length of 15inches and I did same to the second one cause it was supposed to be two sided after that, I gummed it to the Ankara fabric and used it to make flap at the front side of the cloth
then I cut the Ankara fabric again in this form 👉🏽U, I wanted to add it also to the down part of the pleating so it will cover those rough edges that was showing on the down part of the pleating.
Step 4:
After I had cut the U form, actually this U I cut I didn’t use any measurement to cut it I just assumed the size and cut it and it fitted in, after the cutting of the U shape, I then included my tissue gum under it and I bend the both sizes and then sew it to the down part of the pleated fabric.
Step 5:
After I had sewed the U shape to the front, I joined the back view to the front and trimmed my shoulder and included the sleeves, and I joined the body size to the measurement of my client and last thing I did was to bend the down part of the cloth and pipe the neck and my outfit was done and dusted.
I ironed and prepared it for delivery.
Wow, I have got a plug to my Christmas clothes already lolss...
The kaftan looks good and I am thinking a yellow trouser will match with the kaftan right?
Yea it will just be perfect 👌
wow that's to say am improving in my color combinations☺️
I use to have problem on which color to go for which color.. but fixing it gradually thou ☺️☺️
😂 😂 you were actually right though but for this cloth my client was using the same Ankara fabric for his trouser boy yellow but which ever one would still go well
