Hello hivans;
Good afternoon friends, it’s a new exploring day for us to post and learn from one another, so friends hope we’re all safe wherever around the world we are, am also safe over here and work is doing perfectly well by God’s grace.😊
So friends on my last post i shared a pretty yellow outfit with double breasted pocket with was combination of both black and the main fabric which I made for my client that was what he wore to church yesterday evening service.
So this one is a Yoruba native cap called Gobi so I’ll be sharing how I made this Gobi cap 😂 it’s actually very simple and easy to make from start to finish and this my second time making this cap so guys start focused let’s do this together.

Items used:
A black velvet material👇🏼
Hard Carton👇🏼
Shoe gum👇🏼
A white color Bally Fringe👇🏼
Half inches Foam👇🏼
Lining👇🏼
my black thread 🧵👇🏼
Now this are the pictures of all the items I used:
My making processes:
Firstly:
I first measured my head and it was 22inches after that I took the hard carton, and I cut out length of 24inches and size of 3inches after that I cut the fabric same size but I made it longer than the hard carton and after that I took it to the machine and I sewed it length of 22 and I took the already cut hard carton and I used the shoe gum to gum it my head size 22 and I put the fabric around it and I bend and added the shoe gum and bend in the remaining fabric at the top to form the band first.
Secondly:
And I then sewed the velvet fabric same size and I added the band to it
I added the shoe gum to the rounded band I just finished making so I could then wear the velvet I just finished sewing same size.
I place the round band I just finish preparing on the black velvet fabric again to round and form the top covering.
I added the form to the rounded velvet I will be using for the top covering. I gummed the fabric and the foam together with the shoe gum.
Now from the down part I placed the rounded one and I pushed it with less force to the top to form the GOBI cap
and I used an hand needle 🪡 to put the Bally fringe at the top.
Finally:
I added the shoe gum to the inside and I gummed the lining there cover the rough edges and my cap was ready.
With this simple and easy step by step explanation accompined with pictures, I think I can give it a trial. This is great, thanks for sharing @smilestitches
