Sewing items used:

  • Ankara fabric
  • A plain matching fabric (combat)
  • Paper gum

My sewing processes:
Step 1:
I lay the material on the floor, with my drawing pencil ✏️, I sketch out my client’s measurement on the fabric and cut out my front view first, after that I used the already cut front to cut out the back view and the rest part of the cloth like the both sleeves and back facing.

Step 2:
I took out the front view, I bend it into and ironed out a straight line at the middle to know the center of the cloth cause in other to achieve a good and perfect design, you have to locate where the center of the cloth is, now that line at the middle indicating the center of the cloth is what will guild you in designing so you don’t end up making a design that’s not straight and the beauty of any and every outfit is how organized everything are, so note that it’s very very necessary and important to do this before you start whatever you’re doing at the front of your cloth.

Step 3:
After ironing out a straight line to indicate the middle or the center of the cloth, I then cut my paper gum size of 4inches, length of 25inches, after that I gummed it to the plain fabric and I cut the paper gum again and but this time much smaller than the first one I cut, size of 2.5inches and length of 12 inches, now this one I gummed it to the Ankara fabric and after that then bend the front again and cut it size of 0.6inches down to 10inches length. Now I lay those ones have gummed on both sides.

I first lay the plain fabric on the left side of the front at the back view to sew and turn to the right side of the main front view,

the smaller one, I lay it at the right side of the front, at the back view to sew and turn it to the left side of the main front view,

after this I sewed them one after the other, I first start with the small one and after that I then sew the big one and getting to the down part of the big one, I then pleated it in an overlapping form, The length of the pleating wa

2inches and the size was the original size of the flap. I pleated it 4 times. After the pleating my front was partly ready.

Step 4:
I cut the paper gum again, size of 1.5inches and length of 6inches and I gummed it at the plain fabric and I cut same measurement and gummed it on the Ankara fabric this time and then I sewed it to the right side of the front, after that i divided it, bend it inside to form the side inner pocket after this my front was ready.

Step 5:
After I was done designing the front, I was partly done with the outfit. I then join the both shoulders after that I trimmed the shoulder and inserted my both sleeves, actually it was supposed to be a short sleeve so after my shoulder trimming I then join the sleeves and then after that I then joined the both sides to the measurement of my client and I bend the length too.

Step 6:
After that was done, I proceeded to the neck and piped the neck using the Ankara fabric, actually the neck size of my client was 15inches so I trimmed the neck to be 16.5 so when am done it’s won’t be too tight in him. After trimming the neck, I then piped it using the Ankara fabric. Now my client outfit is done and dusted.
