Thank God’s Friday 💃, starting the weekend with a wedding outfit for my client, who wanted to look simple and deferent from others. Something interesting and simple @ Smilestitches😊

Hi 🙋‍♂️ friends,

it’s your boy @smilestitches back on your screen again, friends hope you’re all doing perfectly fine, it’s been amazing working with you guys so far and have enjoyed every moment with you all, have learnt from others posts and have been educated about something so I say thank you to you all.
So guys am here again with you all, this time I’ll be sharing with you all how I got this amazing outfit done from start to finish, it’s actually a very simple style and it’s call dansiki and its been measured differently, in this one the shoulder and the sleeves with the body size are measured together at once.

How it’s measured:

Firstly you place your tap on the persons neck, lf you’re observant you’ll notice there’s a bone at the center of the neck that where you’ll place your tap in division of everything to get the correct measurement. Example if you want to use 24 inches you’ll just divide 24 into two and you’ll get 12inches now you’ll place your tap making that 12 inches to stay at the exact spot where the bone is, now the tap will flow down to the left and to the right of the both sleeves and where 24 stops that’s where you’ll take your measurement from, that’s just how it’s been measured very simple. Now that 24inches you’ve measured contains the body size, the sleeves length and the shoulder inside it. That’s just how the measurement is been taken.
so guys hope you’ll are ready for yet another interesting session with your favorite brand @smilestitches so guys let’s do this together.

Sewing items used:

  • Ankara fabric
  • Matching thread
  • Aiming gum

My sewing processes:

Step 1:

I folded the fabric into four, that four times will cover both the front, I first bend it vertically after that I lifted it up and bend it horizontally that how I bend it four times and I lay it down on the floor with my drawing chalk, I sketch out my client’s measurement which was the shoulder. I divided 28inches into two which I got 14inches and I added 2 inches to make it 16 in all then I cut it straight down to the end part of the fabric it was supposed to go straight down.

Step 2:

Now I proceeded to the neck, I opened it into two, skated the neck on the front and I rounded it and did same to the back view, for the front I neck I used 3inches as length and 2.5 for the wildness and for the back I used 2inches for the length and 3inches for the wildness and I cut it out. When cutting neck of the front I included a V shape to the down part of the front neck so through that my client head can pass and fit into the cloth without stress and also that V comes with the design of this pattern of cloth.

Step 3:

I kept the neck and cut a turning for it, took it to the machine and I sew the turning to the neck and took it to my iron, I iron the neck neatly.

While ironing the neck I added the aiming gum to gum both the turning and the real fabric together.

After that I folded it into two and ironed out a straight long at the center of the front. I took the fabric ironed out size of 5inches and length of 6inches, I formed a pocket and I place it at the down part of the front,

I made two I place one at the left and the other on the right. I did a pocket cover and place it on top of the pockets sew them together.

Step 4:

I now bend in the 2inches I included when cutting the shoulder which was 14inches while I used 16inches I bend it in along with the body and from 11inches where I wanted the aim hole to stop, from they I joined the body, bend the length and with that I was done with the top.
My client will be coming in very soon to pick it for the wedding he was to attend.
