Beer Saturday drinking Stiegl from Salzburg

(Edited)

Salzburg is the city where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born. It is also home to the Stiegl Brauerei which is a brewery in the North of the city.

The brewery was founded 1492 and is also brewed according to the german purity laws. Although this beer is from Austria.

My personal connection with this beer is a pretty close one. When I first got to Austria we played a theatre piece in the old malting building of the brewery. Meaning after the play we where tight at the place to have some cold beers.
Also during my studies on the University for applied Sciences Salzburg you could buy the beer in vending machines and in the cafeteria. I don’t know how many of those I drank during the 7 years I spent in Salzburg.

Stiegl means “small stairs” and you can see it in their logo as well.

Stiegl is one of the oldest private breweries in Austria.
The name Stiegl comes from the 15th century and refers to the
stairs next to the original location of the brewery. From 1650 it was the biggest brewery in Salzburg.
1780 Mozarts sister wrote an entry in her diary about going for 2 or more beers at Stiegl. In 1863 the brewery moved out to the outskirts of the city because they needed the space and is still at the same place
since then.
The Stiegl Goldbräu name was registered as brand name in 1912 and according to the breweries website it is the most liked beer in Austria.

Hard facts

Alcohol: 5,0%
Original wort: 12
Ingredients: water, barley malt, hops.

0,5l bottles and 0,33 bottles
Website: https://www.stiegl.at/

Not my favorite

Its not my favorite beer. But its a good beer to drink on a warm summer evening, or whenever you like it.

I am drinking it at my parents in law and here I have my personal ceramic jug which keeps the beer cold and I could swear it tastes different when I drink it out of this special jug.

This concludes my 3rd Beersaturday post in a row, I hope you liked it, if you did, consider leaving a comment and share your thoughts!

This week I want to invite @indiebandguru to write a post about BEER with minimum 3 photos
