What is a Cryptocurrency?

From the beginning of time man has always found a means to transact and exchange money from one person to another. In the early age we used to trade by barter, then we were introduced to solid currency (cash). With passing of time man has found another digital currency that cannot be seen or touched and also used as a means of exchange. Yes, I am talking about cryptocurrency, Oxford Dictionary defines Cryptocurrency as;

a digital currency in which transactions are verified and records maintained by a decentralized system using cryptography, rather than by a centralized authority.

Goodday memebers of the Hive Najia Community am Kenechukwu and I will be telling you today of my first cryto experience.
Well in the month of November 2020, I started the steemit platform. Steemit paid me in steem and tron token, so for me to be able to withdraw my coins, I had to open a Binance account. I completed my verification and started to buy steem which was #90 naria as of that time of the year. It was a huge investment on my part because I was able to buy a sufficient amont.

Later that year, there was a spike in the price of Steem which was know as #456/$. I had a very huge gain, at this time the federal government of Nigeria has put a ban on crytocurrency so on Binance traders were expected to use P2P to sell and buy various token. By now you should know where this story is going.

On June 2021, I made a request on Binance to sell #70,000 naria worth of bitcoin. I choose a vendor on Binance and placed the order, I called the said vendor on the phone and he instructed me to wait a little that he would soon send the money. I waited for him to do the transfer to my Kuda account, but Binance had already vertified the payment as paid, if you use binance you would understand what I mean. I went to my kuda and reloaded the page but still no funds had be added. I was still new in the crytocurrency market, so I released the coins (bitcoin) . When I had released the coin that I got my senses, I tried calling the number over and over again. I also made an appeal against the vendor but my funds were gone. It made me sad at the time and it made me take crypto seriously to avoid that kind of incident ever happening again.

Sometimes God allows sometimes to happen so that we can learn from our mistakes. I would say that incident has shaped me into s bigger crypto trader and it has taught me to always trend with caution when dealing with anybody online.

Thank you for reading.

Seriously, not every person who would say this after being scammed that huge amount but you stayed and learnt to do better.

It's so sad to face such situation but like you said, it's an experience for us to learn and you really did learn.

What's you're going to gain would be more than what you lose in due time, just keep up that mind you have now.

Thanks for sharing your experience
