Happy Khmer Pchum Ben holiday everybody 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. Today I wanted to share some songs for Khmer holiday. Every year Khmer People always celebrate Pchum Ben Festival as a national traditional festival. We start it on the last days of September and/or the first days of October each year.

We celebrate the small Pchum Ben festival for 14 days and the big Pchum Ben for one day. The whole festival is 15 days, but in Cambodian law we can get off work for the national holiday from the 13th until the 15th day of this festival.

So the big Pchum Ben day is a special day we call Pchum Ben Passover. It's mean is the last day of Pchum Ben holiday. For the first 14 days of this holiday some people go to a pagoda every day. We love to go pagodas on the last day the most. We make so many different cakes that we call "num."

We take num with other foods go to the pagoda with family and friends. This holiday is all about meeting the family together.

In the past I made "num kom (sticky rice snack)" with coconut filling and other cakes too for Pchum Ben in 2016.

We have a culture of making cakes to take to pagodas and give the monks, and also share with our neighbors and our family too.

This song is called ខែរះក្បែរពាង (Moonrise Near The Sistern) This song is about love.

This song is called ទៅវត្តទៅវា (Go To Pagoda).

Frankly, I did not know the culture of Cambodia. I find it curious that there are songs made for cakes, and it is something fantastic. I had never heard music in this style, I am a musician, and although this is new to me. It is also captivating.

Thank you for sharing a bit of your culture, your traditions. I liked all the songs, and it's interesting, about the cakes, I will find out this recipe to see if I can do it.

Thank you for teaching us a bit more about your culture 😊. I really like learning from others, especially about their cultures. Though I don't understand the language, it seemed so familiar and nostalgic.
