๐ŸŸ The Gardener Net-Fishing & The Moon At Night ๐ŸŒ˜ A Short Story ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ

AAFB0A8A-2A9A-4384-ACF4-4DCCA845E2B3.jpeg

Hello friends! Yesterday morning we saw the gardener put a fishing net in the canal. Before this he didnโ€™t come to work for a week. When he came back for his work, he went fishing before he started to work. I thought, maybe he run out money to buy food. He is a poor man like us.

He works a lot for the landlord, cuts grass, cleans the house, takes care of the vegetable garden, take cares of the two sheep, the chickens and other things, but the landlord does not respect him. We often hear the landlord shout at him when the landlord has company and also when there are no no other people around.

I told my husband if I were him, I donโ€™t work for a boss like that. But I understand about him, maybe it's difficult to find a new job and because he is a poor, this job is his life. I don't know how much his salary is, but I know from friends the lowest work is 100$ to $150 USD per month here in Suriname.

I wonder because everything here is very expensive like that, how can people make a life for themselves? In Cambodia, the lowest salary is $150 to $300 per month, about $5 to $10 per day, and most of the things are so much cheaper than here. I feel sympathy for him so much, so sometimes I share my food, snacks, and I buy some drinks for him too.

I used to say to my husband, I want to give him some money to buy some food, but my husband said donโ€™t do that because it might make him feel uneasy or make problem with the landlord. Itโ€™s better to give delicious homemade food to him. My husband also said, when we leave here we will give him our bicycle for free and anything we can't take with us.

He caught fish from his net in the evening. His name is Bubu. He does not have a wife or kids. He lives alone in a small house.

He told me the fish's name but I forgot it already. He does not speak the Dutch language well, but he speaks Sranang, some people call it taki-taki. He knows a little English but not a lot. When I talk with him, I speak English and use my hands too.

I remember this fish, he told me its name is Kwie-Kwie. The landlord woman used to tell me this fish is so tasty and the most expensive here.

I learned its name is Hoplosternum Littorale or catfish. When my two daughters and I visit him, he was catching fish and my husband was making fried rice for dinner. After he finished fishing we gave him a big box of fried rice.

I've written about my feelings in this post, and I wanted to share a little about what I see in my life. All countries have rich people and poor people. Most rich people do not have respect for the poor people. It is like this in my country also. So when I see and hear the landlord shout at him, it reminds of my life before. I just wonder, why do so many rich people not respect poor people? We are the same people.

Poor people do everything so the rich people can have better lives, but rich people do not work low-paying jobs for other rich people, so they need to respect poor people. I want to help him more but my family is poor too. We have a family full of love, so what we can do for him is to share some food with him sometimes. But we can't do it often like before because now it's difficult to find ingredients. Someday we eat just a little bit of food too so that we have something for the next day.

This picture is from the evening at 7:19 pm. Monkey-B and me walked outside to look at the moon. We enjoyed the view of the beautiful moon and talked on the road.

I took this from the road to my apartment. Itโ€™s beautiful at night. All the photos I took with my iPhone 8+. Thank you for reading and visiting. Have a beautiful day everybody.

This is a great act of kindness indeed. We should help others in need. And yes, your husband was right in terms of giving him good food to eat instead of some money. I'm sure he would love your food, you make it really tasty.

I think your husband is a wise man, the food is a better gift! Something made with your own hands and shared is always better! I am sure the fried rice was tasty with his fish for dinner! Your hearts are so big, to want to help others when you are also struggling. ๐Ÿ’œ Your photos are pretty! I love seeing Mother Moon in the sky! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yes, we are struggling in here with our family and we will leave here maybe four to five months, we donโ€™t know what we meet in our future but when we can leave this country we are better because we leave all problems here. But this man struggling with his boss for getting a little bit salaries for making life. Many people are complaining that their country's problems are getting worse every day, so I just wanted to do somethings I can do for him. It's a little bit, but it comes from the heart. Thank you so much @thekittygirl for your kind words, I am glad to see your comment โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Those night shots are really breath taking and indeed the worth of the salaries here is getting less each day. Just last night the petrol/gas stations raised the prices without a warning.

I love the kindness you have in your hearts. A gift of your delicious food is worth so much especially when you guys struggle to get it for yourselves.

It's not only rich people being unkind to poor. I find people here that are not rich in the position of power, like supervisors and managers of small businesses, are also sometimes unkind. They feel small inside and being mean to someone in a lesser position makes them feel bigger. They will never be satisfied.

Lovely post my friend!

YOur photos, and your story, is stunning. Food is so much of a gift, and I like an exchange economy so much better.

Itโ€™s better to give delicious homemade food to him. My husband also said, when we leave here we will give him our bicycle for free and anything we can't take with us.

This makes me smile so much. I would give anything to have you guys here and your amazing cooking. I've never had catfish. Loved this post a lot.
