ENGLISH
EPgl,nren

EPgl,nren = EPH,nren + EPC,nren + EPW,nren + EPV,nren + EPL,nren + EPT,nren.
EPgl,nren: overall non-renewable energy performance index.
EPH,nren: non-renewable primary energy demand for winter air conditioning
EPC,nren: non-renewable primary energy demand for summer air conditioning
EPW,nren: non-renewable primary energy demand for the production of domestic hot water
EPV,nren: non-renewable primary energy demand for ventilation
...And in the case of the non-residential sector the following requirements must also be taken into account:
EPL,nren: primary energy demand for artificial lighting
EPT,nren: primary energy demand for the transport of people or things.

The energy class of the building is determined on the basis of the overall non-renewable energy performance index of the building. EPgl,nren is the non-renewable overall energy performance index.
The unit of measurement for the energy performance index is the kWh/sqm year.
In order to monitor energy performance it is necessary to identify an actual energy performance index expressed in energy/factor reference.

As far as Italy is concerned, energy classes are specified in the "minimum requirements decree", i.e. the interministerial decree of 26 June 2015 - Application of the methodologies for calculating energy performance.

Today we talk more and more about the energy performance of buildings. So we need a method to classify them. For this classification we have that the energy performance of the property is expressed through the non-renewable global energy performance index EPgl,nren.

The various energy classifications are given by the value of the non-renewable global energy performance index of the reference building (EPgl,nren).
non-renewable energy performance index of the reference building (EPgl,nren), calculated according to the provisions of
from Annex 1, chapter 3 of the Decree minimum requirements, assuming that in it are installed
standard building elements and systems of the reference building in Table 1, with the minimum legal requirements.
minimum legal requirements.

The technical standards for the calculation of the energy performance index are UNI/TS 11300. These standards are contained in the Interministerial Decree 26 June 2015 Annex 2.

The table of classes is in ANNEX 1, Table 2, page 9. of DM 26 06 15

Scale of classification of buildings based on the index of global energy performance non
renewable EPgl,nren.
The energy classes are ten and range from A4 (these are the most efficient homes), to G (these are the least efficient homes).

Conclusions
In Italy, the energy performance of buildings is drawn up according to the guidelines for energy certification DM 26-06-2015 and Legislative Decree 192/2005.

ITALIAN
EPgl,nren

EPgl,nren = EPH,nren + EPC,nren + EPW,nren + EPV,nren + EPL,nren + EPT,nren.

Italy has transposed European directives, so in a slightly different way what I wrote is also equivalent for the whole European area
