Pescara is a city in Italy, capital of the province of the same name in the Abruzzo region. It is a port city located in southern Italy. The city has approximately 120,000 inhabitants.
A city where the first settlements seem to have occurred in the first millennium BC.
During the 1980s, a plan was approved in Pescara for the redevelopment of the port. A very important plan that lasted several decades and can now be admired in its final stage.

Pescara è una città d’Italia, capoluogo dell'omonima provincia della regione Abruzzo. E’ una città portuale che si trova nel sud Italia. La città ha circa 120.000 abitanti.
Una città in cui i primi insediamenti sembrano siano avvenuti nel primo millennio avanti Cristo.
Durante gli anni 1980 a Pescara è stato approvato un piano per la riqualificazione del porto. Un piano molto importante che è durato diversi decenni ed ora si può ammirare nel suo stadio finale.

The port of Pescara has been shaped in recent decades to be larger and to welcome more and more tourists. It is in fact one of the largest marinas in Italy.
According to some sources, it is the third largest Italian tourist port after Savona and Naples.
Along the harbour, there are several docks on which the ships of the port stop and on which one can take beautiful walks in which one can admire the sea of Pescara.

Il porto di Pescara è stato modellato negli ultimi decenni per essere più ampio ed accogliere sempre più turisti. E’ infatti uno dei porti turistici più grandi d’Italia.
Secondo alcune fonti sarebbe il terzo approdo turistico italiano dopo quelli di Savona e Napoli.
Lungo il porto ci sono diverse banchine portuali sui cui fanno sosta le navi del porto e sulle quali si possono fare delle belle passeggiate in cui poter ammirare da vicino il mare di Pescara.

Pescara has a sandy coastline. A coastline that in summer fills up with tourists, who can enjoy various services and a blue sea.

Pescara possiede un litorale sabbioso. Litorale che d’estate si riempie di turisti, i quali possono usufruire di vari servizi e di un mare azzurro.

The port of Pescara is also a commercial port for liquid cargo, general cargo, passenger ferries, cars, trucks and trailers.

Il porto di Pescara è anche un porto commerciale di tipo: merci liquide, general cargo, traghetti passeggeri, auto, camion e rimorchi.

One building one notices while walking around Pescare is Palazzo di Città, a historic building that is the current seat of the city council and mayor's offices. The palace was built in 1935 in the architectural style that would develop in Italy during those years, the style called Rationalist. A clock is located on the main tower.

Un edificio che si nota mentre si passeggia a Pescare è Palazzo di Città, un edificio storico che è l'attuale sede del consiglio comunale e degli uffici del sindaco. Palazzo costruito nel 1935 nello stile architettonico che si svilupperà in Italia durante quegli anni, lo stile chiamato Razionalista. Sulla torre principale si trova un orologio.

Another palace one notices when walking through the center is Palazzo Muzii. One of the historical palaces in the center of Pescara.

Palazzo Teatro Michetti is a historic theatre in Pescara built in 1910. Major restoration works were completed in 2020.

The Piazza Ettore Troilo is a large square with modern-style buildings.

La Piazza Ettore Troilo è una grande piazza in cui sono costruiti degli edifici in stile moderno.

On the south side of the Piazza Ettore Troilo you can admire an imposing and modern building, it is the courthouse of Pescara. A truly important architectural work that captures the attention of passers-by. The building is within an area of 57,000 m2, with a volume of 185,000 m3. Inside there are 30 classrooms and 610 offices.

Sul lato sud della Piazza Ettore Troilo si può ammirare un edificio imponente e moderno, è il tribunale di Pescara. Un’opera architettonica davvero importante che cattura l’attenzione dei passanti. L’edificio è all’interno di un’area di 57,000 m2, con un volume di 185,000 m3. All’interno ci sono 30 aule e 610 uffici.

The Church of the Sacred Heart can be admired in the city centre. A neo-Romanesque style church built in 1866.

Nel centro della città si può ammirare la Chiesa del Sacro Cuore. Una chiesa in stile neoromanico realizzata nel 1866.

Pescara is crossed by the Pescara River. This river is the longest river in Abruzzo and flows into the Adriatic Sea.

Pescara è attraversata dal fiume Pescara. Questo fiume è il fiume più lungo d'Abruzzo e sfocia nel Mar Adriatico.

Gabriele D'Annunzio Birthplace Museum
The house where Gabriele D'Annunzio was born in Pescara has been converted into a museum. He was a writer, a poet and a symbol of Italian decadentism. Also active in politics, he was a deputy of the Kingdom of Italy.

Pescara was also the birthplace of Ennio Flaiano. He was an Italian screenwriter, writer, humorist, film critic and playwright. He collaborated with Italian director Federico Fellini on the film 'La Dolce Vita'. Below is a monument dedicated to him.

Pescara è stata la città natale anche di Ennio Flaiano. Egli fu uno sceneggiatore, scrittore, umorista, critico cinematografico e drammaturgo italiano. Collaborò con il regista italiano Federico Fellini nel film “La Dolce Vita”. Qui di seguito un monumento dedicato a lui.

On the south shore of Pescara just a stone's throw from the sea is an auditorium also dedicated to screenwriter Ennio Flaiano. Various concerts are held here, and during the summer period the Pescara Jazz Festival is usually held here.
