Renato Massari - The Cage
Renato Massari is an Italian painter born in Longiano (FC) on March 10, 1947.
Below is an author's critique of his painting:
"Shy of any form of publicity and modest, never content with himself, Renato Massari always produces better and always new. His is a fairy-tale world." (Giorgio Mancini - 1978)

Data of the work
Title: The Cage
Painted by: Renato Massari
Year of realization: 1997
Dimensions: 110 cm x 90 cm
Material: wood panel
Type of painting: Oil

Photo of the painting
The painting represents a large seagull that seems to be breaking free from a cage. The size and prominent wings characterize this seagull that represents freedom, strength and lightness at the same time. What remains in the cage are dry trees with very twisted branches. The cage is represented by wooden strips that have been glued and painted on the left side of the painting.

Detail 1
The main character of the painting is the seagull who protects himself with his wings. These wings have been painted by tapping the brush. In fact, they are soft and enveloping.

Detail 2
At the bottom left we have the wooden slats that represent the cage. Inside the squares that form the strips are painted twisted trees without leaves, which represent the suffering of those who remain locked in the cage.

Renato Massari - La gabbia
(Giorgio Mancini - 1978)

Dati dell’opera
Titolo: La gabbia
Dipinto da: Renato Massari
Anno di realizzazione: 1997
Dimensioni: 110 cm x 90 cm

Thanks Sakura, this is painted by my father. My father has always been a very sensitive person and when he paints, at times, he manages to express his delicate sensitivity. In this case he succeeded perfectly. The beauty of that seagull that frees itself from the cage expresses freedom, while the dry trees that remain in the cage express pain
