What I love and hate about Hive

Hive blockchain - there's lot to love

I love this Hive platform. The potential it has is unbelievable. Right now, I am scrolling through my feed and you can really feel the sense of jubilation about the current price - smashing up through $3 and now holding above $2.50.

Upvotes are going crazy and everyone's getting excited about what's to come....

There are new dapps being developed, airdrops that are on their way and existing dapps like Splinterlands that are doing awesomely.

See, there's a ton to love about this blockchain. We've pretty much got it all!

So what's to hate...?

The fact that 95% of the posts in my feed are about the price of Hive, the dapps in development, the forthcoming airdrops and how existing dapps like Splinterlands are doing awesomely. ;)

Maybe "hate" is a strong word - "worry" might be a better one.

I worry that us early adopters spend way too much time talking about the "plumbing" and "infrastructure" behind this blockchain. It is like we're geeking out together! And I fear that this will turn lots of newbies (that we need) off this fantastic place before they even get started.

Case in point, how many tweets do you see actually talking about Twitter and how it works and its share price etc (okay, maybe bad timing right now as Jack has just stepped down as CEO, so there's plenty, but you get my point!). Same point for FB, Reddit, Instagram, Tik-Tok etc. Users are busy posting about their lives, interests, jokes, memes and news.

The communities here on Hive sure help shift the conversation away from Hive itself but I think we need to move on from the "navel-gazing". I love what LeoFinance is doing and it probably has the best shout right now for shifting the conversation on from Hive to finance and economic news. Plus I think that more bloggers here on Hive would help dilute the content more.

But who am I to call Hive out for being inwardly focused on talking about itself when here I am, errr, talking about Hive....?!

I have also noticed that and how do you attract new users when you are talking about yourselves. I think it is ok if the post are varied up and something I am conscious of all the time.

Yep, completely agree. To be fair, and without wishing to blow sunshine...!, your content is always varied - plus your occasional take on the state of Hive and its potential is always interesting.

No worries as I know you are not the sunshine type and nor am I lol. This week things are looking good though as the 3rd is a Friday so a Korean pump over the weekend is on the cards. Been waiting for this date now for a few weeks and want to see if I am right.

What is it with these Korean pumps? I don't get it - am I missing something???

Not sure to be honest as they are low volume that start them off these days as there is not much between us and the ATH again. What is great is Hive seems to be the only one moving like it has so it is getting more attention and expect others to jump in over the weekend from Binance increasing the volume. All about timing as this is well planned and consistent.

Yes, and we're hovering just outside the top 100. If we were to get back in there, that would attract a lot more interest. Maybe this weekend as you say... 🤞

Good time to look into niche communities instead of just on your feed, many don't accept crypto related posts which is a nice breather after everyone posting about prices lately.

Top tip, will do and can help contribute to others now that my vote is actually worth more (than dust!) 🤣

As a new person here, I see a lot of what you're talking about, and in some ways, it is a little intimidating, probably just because I don't understand it (yet). I'm interested to learn, so I stick around. Others might not, so I think content variety can only be a good thing.

To be fair, a lot of it will be useful if you're starting out. It's just when you have been here for about four years that it starts to get a little samey...! 😂
