Just One Thing - Daily Prompt for 22/05/2022 = Cottage

Hoorah, a prompt I can work with in the #justonething challenge!

The first thing that came to mind when I saw today's prompt word, was cottage industry. defined by Investopedia.com as "A small-scale, decentralized manufacturing business often operated out of a home rather than a purpose-built facility". Some of these over, grew to be successful, and came to be the corporate giants of today (not necessarily for the better IMHO - but thats a different prompt word I'm sure lol!)

That seems to fit in with exactly what we are doing as bloggers, content creators, commentators, influencers, and more on this wonderful Hive blockchain eco system.

Lets break it down a little:

Small scale : absolutely, since mostly of us are individuals creating our own content trying to engage with others and express our views and interpretations of the world around us. Sure, some of us come together to create larger communities, but even that is still relatively small scale to some extent.

Decentralized : totally, thats a key word in anything that happens on the blockchain, i think we can all agree. No mindless corporate entities controlling our everyday functionality here - thank goodness.

Manufacturing : maybe not so obvious to begin with as this usually implies a physical product being produced. But thinking deeper, we are "manufacturing" our content to be consumed by whomsoever is looking to be inspired by the creators.

Operated out of a home : certainly fits the bill as I'm sure most of us will be toiling away at our laptops/PC's/tablets in a home office space or even just sitting on the couch binge watching TV series as we work through ideas.

Today, the phrase "cottage industry" may seem a bit outdated, but I believe that these words are still totally valid and apply to us all as we strive to be the best we can be.

I don't know if the term is outdated maybe, but the activities are very much alive i know several people that earn their living this way in different sectors.
I imagine with more and more restrictions governments place on manufacturing and business this may come to an end in the future. 😉

Not a lot of cottage industry is left unless you eliminate the word "manufacturing" from the definition. Then every affiliate marketer is a cottage industry.
