COUNTRY RETREAT: Evening Sunset during our Countryside Walk

This week my wife and I went for a countryside walk and came across this beautiful sunset. The photos look great, but the ball of flaming orange looked just incredible in person.

The smoke you can see in the background are from the sugar cane fields. At this time of year the sugar cane farmers do their annual burn off. I actually think that the smoke from the fires likely contributed to the beauty of the orange sun.

As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, our family is currently living in a shed house while we wait for the renovation of our home to be completed. We have been in the shed for about three weeks now, it is rather cold at night time and early in the mornings, but we are absolutely loving living in this beautiful countryside location.

Some of the farms are operational and productive, but most of the properties in this location are hobby farms. On our walk we strolled past Alpacas, Cows, Horses, Ponies, Chickens and Guinea Foul. It is so good for the soul living out in the country, it is really grounding and makes you feel so free and alive.

We probably walked for about 3 kilometres at a moderate exercise pace. It is something that we plan to do as often as we can while we are living in our shed house. There is a nice steep hill near us too that we can walk up when we are after a bit more of a challenge and want to get the heart rate really working.

It feels so good to be walking again, about two years ago I broke my ankle during a soccer game. Unfortunately it was not a clean break, so it has taken and extremely long time to heal. I still get a lot of pain while walking, but I have become used to it now and it is good for me to be active and walking as part of the healing process.

As we talk more walks in the weeks ahead I'll take more photos of this beautiful spot that we call home at the moment. Living where we are now is a nice way to end a very challenging renovation process that has taken way longer than it needed to. My wife and I have already discussed how we would like to continue doing evening walks when we moved back into our home.
