MATERIAL TREASURES

Puzzles Done crp.png

Completed puzzles

When it comes to material things, I have so many that some of them are put away & I don’t really use them anymore. To pick one item to show you is almost impossible for me because I have so much, I don’t know where to start.

I thought about showing you all my devices, I thought about all my clothes, & I thought about so many other things that I started to reason with just what is the one thing that makes since to share.

It’s funny how valuable material things can be, & what’s valuable to me may not be valuable to me. Like I have a brand-new Sewing Machine that sat in the box for over a year, then I finally took it out about 6 months ago, and it’s been sitting there on the table & I still Haven’t used it yet. It has now been two years. However, that’s not my most valuable unnecessary thing.

One of My Most Valued Material Treasures

Like with most of my material belongings it’s not just a single item but has multiple parts & pieces. It is my jigsaw puzzle collection. I have so many undone puzzles, you might think you were in a puzzle store. I say that I’m not going to buy anymore, but when I get around them, I’m like “A kid in the candy store”, I can’t resist and I have to have them. I haven’t done one of my puzzles in about 3 yrs., but I keep collecting them.

All of these and those below are just some of the puzzles in waiting.

What’s Behind My Love For Puzzles

When I was just 5 years old my father instilled a love for puzzles in me. He would pick me up from school and we would go to Germantown Ave., to then what was known as the ‘five & dime’ store back then. These were stores similar to Walmart but much smaller, but they had a little of everything.

When we got home, we would sit in the middle of the floor and he would spread the pieces out & show me how to put the puzzle together. Before long I wasn’t just watching & trying to figure out how to anymore, I was helping to put the puzzles together.
This was a special time for me and my father as he passed on about a month or so from my 7th birthday, but this is a skill, a talent that he taught me and to this very day I love to do puzzles.

Over the years, I did puzzles every chance I got. There used to be a time when there was always a puzzle on my table. About 15 years ago, over a 5-year period, this was how I spent a lot of my time & completed about 500 puzzles of various sizes and shapes and skill. I also keep them; I use a special glue that bonds them & they look like pictures. I have a wall in my Livingroom where I plan to hang some of them. The plan is to fill the entire wall with puzzles.

As I’m writing this post, I’m in the process of making a place for me to return to this love & complete those puzzles I have sitting around.

Thanks for reading about my material treasures!!

See Ya next time!!
