Market Friday: Shopping for baby girl.
Hello Hivers and the #marketfriday community, this is my first entry here and I’m glad to share my shopping story for my little "first cousin once removed"(my cousin’s baby) with you all.
My cousin just had her first child, she got married early last year, we were all super excited about her engagement when she broke the news to us that she was getting married again for the second time. She lost her first marriage barely 3 years old to the hands of death, her first husband died in an autocrash. It was so devastating for her and the entire family. After 2 years of mourning she found love again and now this year came with a bundle of joy for the whole family.
Since the baby’s delivery over a month now, I haven’t been able to go visit them because of work, busy schedule and we live in two different states which is quite a distance. But this weekend I decided to break all odds to go see them which I know will mean a lot to the family.
You’ll totally disagree with me going there empty-handed I mean without a gift. So yesterday, I went shopping for the baby and from the look of the pictures you can boldly tell that the baby is a girl and yes! you’re correct.
I got into the shopping mall without having a clue on what to buy for the baby. I didn’t want to ask for an expo or ask the mother which I felt was somehow but I wasn’t planning a surprise though because she already knew I was coming. Then the thought came to my mind to get diapers and toys because they’re kids necessities. Diapers are never enough for nursing mothers it’s needed everyday. I got few packs and went on shopping.
I got to the dolls and toys section, I saw beautiful toys that I didn’t get to play with when I was a kid because everyday we get to see new invention and designs. I picked some toys I got attracted to and I think the mother would like it too. Kids love toys, she will grow and get to play with them in due time.
Guess what! I’m actually on my way to see them.

Welcome to the #MarketFriday Community!
Diapers are really such a great, overlooked idea for a gift. Everyone usually wants a gift that is pretty or cute or even a little flashy, but in the end, practicality wins. Those are the gifts that are used the most and they grow so fast, they grow out of the cute little clothes they receive.
What a great store to have to make your selection.
Such a sad story that your cousin has, so I am glad to see the happy ending of it. You don't say where you are shopping or the costs involved in your purchases. Because we compare cultures/prices and goods bought, it is awesome when we get some idea. Next time. :) I hope you had a great time with your cousin! Thanks for joining #MarketFriday.
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
