Rava (Semolina) Idli

Today I am going to share Rava (Sooji/Semolina) Idli Recipe with you all. Traditionally, Idli is made of a batter of soaked rice fermented for good 4-5 hours. They are very tasty but require a lot of pre-planning phase. You need to plan in advance if you have to eat them and prepare the mixture well. But my recipe is going to give you a similar taste without having to plan in advance. This recipe is a very common tiffin food available in south india.

Rava Idli is made using lentils and nuts. You can also choose to add some cashews and raisins if you like them in your food.

If you want to go even healthier, you can replace Semolina in this recipe with Oats. But for me, its Rava Idlialways since I’ve grown up eating this. It has a unique aroma which comes with the sour curd that goes into making the batter.

What an interesting take on idlis, I've never seen them made this way before. It is true it takes a long time to plan and prepare them, but they are quite simple. I just wish I had my wet stone grinder (back in the USA) because my grinder is too fast, not ideal for making dosa or idli batters. These look really delicious, and could easily be made fully vegetarian with a simple substitution.

Thanks for sharing!
