ENGLISH

Perhaps when we talk about 1984, many people, especially regular readers of books, the famous novel by George Orwell immediately comes to mind and that certainly has its merits, but for fans of the world of horror and dark fantasy like me when someone mentions that year, especially on dates close to Halloween is inevitable to think of one of the most iconic cult films of Horror cinema, I refer of course to Nightmare on Elm Street, which can be considered by viewers as one of the most iconic cult films of Horror cinema, especially in the dates close to Halloween is inevitable to think of one of the most iconic cult films of Horror cinema, I refer of course to Nightmare on Elm Street, which can be considered by viewers as one of the creepiest films of all time, where the supernatural theme is highlighted in a masterful way, making fear arise from the deepest areas of your imagination.

From a Nightmare on Elm Street story point of view, it is perfectly conceived with an immersive structure that brings to life, or at least stages in the nightmares of a group of teenagers, a fantastic character that detonates all the triggers. Of sanity and modesty of tranquility that a person can have, as is the perverse Freddy Krueger, a murderer and rapist who for some reason escapes from hell at night to seize the souls of beings who succumb to nightmares where he is boss.

This gem of horror cinema gave a sigh and a rebirth from my point of view to a genre, which at that time was worn out with endless sequels of movies that increasingly looked worse in their plot, moving away the attention of the public, it is here when the creativity of a true master of Horror comes into play, not only in film but also in writing, as is the creator of this cult film Wes Craven who wrote and also directed it, maybe that's why it turned out so well despite its small budget.

In my opinion, the direction and script of the film is impeccable, because it is also a hallmark of a horror magician, who to date has not disappointed the public with any of his creations, always keeping moviegoers expecting to feel how the characters are immersed in a whirlwind of events, with classic stereotypes of the cinema of that time, attached to the fundamental structure that people liked, some young people having fun, a vulnerable girl and a murderer who does his thing, without a doubt, the key to success is hidden in that path.

One of the things to highlight in the analysis of this film is that most of the special effects were achieved manually with traps and camera games, something that I could appreciate in the extra scenes that appear in the DVD collection that I had. The opportunity to rent some time ago.

Nightmare on Elm Street had a small budget, since in those days nobody was betting on horror films due to the consecutive box office failures that had been presented previously. However, with the few resources available, Wes Craven managed to put together a good cast that provided great quality to the filming, where television stars who came from famous police series stood out and who aspired for a small place in the movies of the great screen, which also worked very well in a movie with lots of gore scenes.

Another novelty presented in this film was the young promise of the cinema Jonny Deep who makes his first appearance in Hollywood playing the girl's boyfriend and who also appears in one of the best horror scenes achieved manually, being the spectator of when the maiden is dragged in her nightmares to a gruesome death by the fearsome Freddy, while in the real world the body bounces and writhes across the ceiling of the room.

An important point to highlight was also the precision with which the bloody scenes were made, something quite shocking in the part when the bed sucks someone up and then a spectacular jet of blood comes out that reaches the ceiling, leaving everyone stunned. Viewers who enjoy the gore horror genre.

The makeup I must also say was very good, although again due to the costs the character could not be fully exposed in this installment, although the game of cameras and shadows that only allowed the malevolent murderer to be seen clearly on very few occasions, I think Far from damaging the content, rather it added mystery and tension, leaving you intrigued as to what its total aspect would be.

A fundamental key to understand in this film is that the events take place in two times, one in reality and the other in the world of dreams, which means that at certain moments the veil that separates both becomes very thin, and they can be confused. Stirring and sowing doubt in the viewer's mind, which is great.

Among the things that I did not like at all is the ending, I think it was very poorly done and the doll they used for the door scene was quite unfortunate, because it looked extremely fake. However, we cannot despise a whole movie, due to a terrible scene that did not last more than a minute, in general it is a great film with good actors, excellent direction and great achievements in terms of special effects and makeup that I highly recommend. , especially on these Halloween dates.

Now I'm going to take some time to answer some essential questions of this contest, which I think are great.

Why did you choose this movie?

I have always liked the work of Director Wes Craven, I think he is one of the greats in the Horror genre that has contributed a lot to classic cinema, his unmistakable style is a kind of hallmark that marks an era, where fantasy films dark movies resurfaced to stay as cinematographic jewels and Nightmare on Elm Street 1984 is precisely one of these examples, where a creation with very few resources managed to make a fantastic plot with an iconic villain that marked an entire generation.

Do you enjoy this time of year, and how does this film reflect your feelings?

I love the whole month of October and everything that has to do with the celebration of Halloween, but of course I am not a normal person, I literally live off terror and dark fantasy because that is what I have studied to write my books and create my own personal brand as a whisper of mystery, so this time of year is to me what Christmas is to a toy seller, it's my ideal high season to offer my stories to the public.

What elements of the film catch your attention?

Without a doubt, the theme of makeup, the blood scenes and the masterful handling of the detonating triggers of classic Horror in the structure of the film, I am sure that no one who sees it will be able to forget how it all begins when a creepy Freddy appears sharpening the claws of his glove, with which he will kill all the innocent girls he harassed in nightmares

A personal reflection on this holiday and how it is celebrated where he lives.

I would love to enjoy a Halloween party, as it is celebrated in the United States or in some parts of Europe, with all the pagan symbols and ancient customs, unfortunately in Latin America or at least in my country, we only receive in a very slight echo of these great celebrations, focusing mainly on the commercial theme to sell sweets and costumes to some children, mainly for parties in bars and discos beyond that the celebration in this country is practically invisible, although I must admit that in recent years has expanded much more.

I hope you liked my participation and the review of this film, which I did with great dedication, trying to pass on my knowledge in the analysis of horror stories.

Saludos 🤗
