Oh it’s massive and as you can imagine a large part of the local economy is supported by the industry. Farnborough calls itself “The Home of British Aviation”

My sister who is an officer in the Royal Navy used to have a role purchasing various aircraft for them. She loved coming to Farnborough because you’d get wined and dined by all the big players looking to secure multi-million if not billion pound orders!

Shame that they don’t do the public airshow now which would have been this weekend but you still get to see some amazing aircraft come in and the kids obviously love seeing things like the RAF Typhoon jets and Red Arrows (below) come over the house

Sounds like your sister had fun. Same thing happens when you go on a buying trip to China as if you aren't drinking then the Chinese think you aren't having a good time. Nice part of the country to live in and I also preferred it down South.
