I've seen this going around but the concept isn't new, as I know some people who've worked in this mindset for years. The concerns I have are "will this put a strain on workers who don't go by that philosophy and how will it affect career and advancement opportunities?" #dbuzz

What is Striking in this context? ...I heard about the recent voice actress mess and the word "strike" appeared a lot.

I forgot to add the term "silent quitting" 🤦‍♀. I really thought I had added it in my post. But it's about the fact that a lot of employees are thinking of or are already quitting in silence, which means only doing the bare minimum an what's required of them and no more, instead of quitting their jobs. On the one hand I totally understand, because who wants to be overworked without getting rewarded for it and setting healthy boundaries is important.

But I've seen a few commentators on it and they also made valid points, because if someone's only doing what is required, is that the new norm and metric by which performance will be based off of and what will this mean in "standing out" for promotions?

I think if the workplace really promotes those who stand out, a correction will happen and people start working for such a reward... The whole Quiet Quitting movement started because workers saw they're paid unfairly for the amount thry work, and the wrong people are promoted!

If one way doesn't work, try another approach 🤷‍♀. Someone online had mentioned that unions are the way to do it, but that also doesn't work I suppose. Look at for example here in Suriname, where some of the union leaders have their own agenda's and even if they are for the workers, they don't always get things done.

We don't have unions in my country as far as I know...

Oh I don't know whether that's unfortunate or good, because they aren't needed 😅.

If the business leaders did their job correctly, deserving people will always be promoted while Quiet Quitters will be okay doing the minimum for normal pay. But reality is imperfect. We have to adapt to that!

!LOL I like the analogy with the game.

If the business leaders did their job correctly, deserving people will always be promoted while Quiet Quitters will be okay doing the minimum for normal pay.

That would happen in a perfect world but alas.
Oh, I've seen/listened to a podcast with Simon Sinek and he made a poignant argument, that we're not evolved to the level yet where employee and employer could have an open and honest conversation about what expectations and boundaries are towards each other, without (negative) consequences. He compared it to someone he knows in a polyamorous relationship (I won't get into that discussion, just pointing out the analogy 😂), where every party is aware of where they stand and is ok with it.

I do see the dangers in Quiet Quitting... I just hope it sends a signal to workplaces, because someone who gets used to doing the minimum will lose the ability to go beyond when there's value in it.

I like the relationship analogy too!

Precisely! People are also motivated by being challenged, because I've also hit the ceiling a couple of times and when work isn't challenging anymore, it becomes boring and a drag, which also doesn't encourage one to go to work.

That's a fair point.
