Pondering About Future And Possibilities Of Hive 🧠

Partly in response to @rarej's questions in this post, regarding the scalability of Hive in the event the mass public will migrate to this blockchain and partly because of some of my own questions that came up after I read the post, I would like to know your thoughts about the future of Hive.

At first, I thought about the possibilities of setting up bots - which is somewhat already happening - in helping communities ensure writers to stay on topic and to set up indicators regarding the quality one expects on Hive. What is considered quality content though and how far are we as a community as a whole willing to go, to let logic decide this for us? My mind - as it in most situations does - immediately went to the far "what if...?"

What will happen if everything is put into data and coding, to help maintain the "status quo" and is ensuring the status quo really what we want within this space? From what I've learned until now, it's because of "sticking it to the man" Hive and other blockchains were created. If I'm wrong do tell.

And then I thought about all of the reviews I'm seeing here on Hive - from food, music, movies, technology, tools, you name it - and how rating these is being monetized on mainstream social media. When we're reviewing these products, tools, restaurants or tourist destinations here on Hive, we're to a degree helping in the advertisement of those brands. Yes, we're already monetizing those reviews by up- and downvotes, whether it was positive or negative, but I'm also wondering about whether companies will ever make use of Hive bloggers to market their products or services.

If they ever do, what will their criteria be? Will they use reputation as a factor or the amount of followers someone has or the voting power? Maybe all. I realize I'm still thinking in terms of mainstream social media and know that Hive could go a whole different direction. Is it still too early to make predictions though? I would like to know your thoughts on this, in a comment below or a post of your own will do. Do tag me, so that I'm able to see it 🤓.

Probably the same as with mainstream social media now. Basically how much people will the sponsored user reach. How many followers, etc. For that our followers would need to at least be near millions. Right now it's more like thousands.

Ah, I didn't think of that. We'll just have to wait and see, I suppose.
