Making Hive A Mission

avatar

What does it take to succeed? When dealing with a situation like Hive, or even cryptocurrency in general, what is required to bring about radical change?

This is something that we often discuss but do we really know what it takes? And if we do, are we willing to make the commitment?

Success requires operating at a completely different level than most people are accustomed to. The reality is that most, even in developed countries, simply do the bare minimum to get by. This is likely the result of the wage-slavery environment that is created. After all, employees do just enough to not get fired and employers pay only what will keep people from quitting. It is a very toxic relationship.

Nevertheless, the profound changes from society rarely come from the quest for money. If that is the motivator, we tend to burn out long before the goal is reached.

Instead, true change comes from many people buying into the same mission. That means they are willing to commit fully to something that is much bigger than them.

It is one of the major reasons why Tesla is not just another automaker.

Is Hive Your Mission?

This might sound a bit over the top but hear me out on this one. Using Tesla as an example, we will see how the model is there to follow.

One of the key drivers at that company is the Tesla Master Plan for Sustainable Energy. It is a document that is now in its second version. Basically, it outlines a pathway to shift the world from dependence upon fossil fuels.

In reading the document, we see that nowhere does it discuss sales numbers or profit margins. This is not the driving force. Of course, the financial success of Tesla the last few years cannot be denied. However, this is not what is motivating most people.

There are a number of videos online by ex-employees discussing the culture. The work hours are long and everyone operates at a frenzied pace. It is part of the expectations and a fact that received a great deal of criticism from the mainstream media. However, for most there, it is not a problem.

Are these people driven by money? That could be debatable however many state what was written earlier. Anyone there simply for the money will burn out. Of course, that does not mean people are doing it for nothing. While salaries are minimal, the stock options make the average employee a millionaire. It is similar to the days at Microsoft where most of the first generation employees were all wealthy.

Ultimately, the people are giving their all to Tesla because they believe the mission. In their eyes, their work is helping to change the world. The transition to sustainable energy will not occur unless they put forth maximum effort to achieve this end. We can dispute the validity of their view yet not the fact it is what drives people.

Of course, Musk is the epitome of this. From what people say, he is there with everyone else, putting in a hundred hours per week. He is also not sitting in an office dictating what goes on but, rather, on the line with everyone else.

Again, it is hard to argue with the results the company is now getting.

Do we have that similar mindset with Hive? Is it your mission?

Cryptocurrency Has The Potential To Change The World

Like renewable energy, cryptocurrency has the potential to impact the entire global population. We are working on the transition away from the old monetary system to one that is sustainable for all people on the planet. Instead of simply favoring a handful of people at the top, we can show benefit to everyone.

Hive is a microcosm of this concept. It certainly is not the only game in town, nor should it be. We are going to require the success of many different blockchains, with millions of projects achieving mass adoption status. However, we do have to select where we place our focus. There are only 24 hours in a day, so our time is limited.

For many of us, Hive is the ideal area to fully commit. Like with the Tesla situation, the money is secondary. Those who are here on a daily basis putting forth maximum effort realize the money will follow. Talk with those individuals and you will find all believe that HIVE is destined for much higher prices. In their minds, it is not even a question. It will happen.

Therefore, what is the driver? What motivates these people to spend hours on end writing code? How can these people keep pumping out content on a daily basis? Where do the find the energy to continue being part of the "Hive Twitter Army", trying to get the word out?

Like the Tesla employees, these individuals are driven by something much greater than themselves. We see the potential that Hive offers to make a difference in the lives of millions of people. Already, on a smaller scale, we see this. Thousands saw their financial futures altered through what was already created.

For this to expand, we need to keep pushing forward.

We can look around the cryptocurrency industry to see those who are building. There are many who believe in the concept of decentralization and distribution as a means of building our newer technologies. When we look at the likes of Vitalik, Larimer, Hoskinson, or Goertzel, we see people committed to a mission that far exceeds their pocketbooks. Obviously, they made a fortune and could sit back, spending their lives in leisure. Yet they still show up each day, working on the projects they believe will alter the path of humanity.

Hive has no front person. There is no Elon, Vitalik or Hoskinson. Therefore, that role is filled by the community. It is up to each of us to step in and do what is required. That starts with commitment.

On Hive, we see many committed to their different projects. These "leaders" are doing all they can to move things ahead. Whether it is Splinterlands, Leofinance, or SPkNetwork, we can see how there are a number of people fully dedicated to the success of those projects. That is providing enormous benefit to Hive.

Each of us can start the process by deciding this is where we are going to focus our attention. It starts with a few simple questions:

  • Do you believe cryptocurrency has the ability to change the world?
  • Do you see Hive making an impact in the lives of thousands already? Does it have the ability to expand into millions?
  • Do you want to be a part of the solution that does bring radical change to the world?
  • Are you willing to get involved and assist in the effort?

There are plenty of opportunities for people to participate. Making Hive successful will require the efforts of thousands of people. If people make it their mission, we see the advancement accelerate. It is amazing what a handful of dedicated people can accomplish.

We recently saw what a lack of dedication looks like. Justin Sun is now an ambassador, exiting the cryptocurrency industry. Certainly he made a lot of money and now is off to something else. While none of us truly know his motivation, the fact that his projects are not the foremost in his mind is evident. This was something that the community on Hive realized very quickly with him. Compare his approach to the ones mentioned above.

Making Hive a mission is about the transition to a new global financial and digital system. Whatever terminology we use, Web 3.0 or whatever, it is the dedication to carrying out the vision that is bigger than ourselves. Are we going to be richly rewarded? Most of us believe so. However, the money is secondary. To achieve this end entails the commitment to our own "Master Plan for Economic Transition". While a paper is not written on that (although the Bitcoin White Paper might be considered the starting point), it is a mindset that tens of thousands in the industry have.

To start with, thanks for this highly motivational content. I've been on hive since 2020. But I wasn't really committed. Should I put it as..."I didn't have a vision" my mission apparently was my pocket "making cool fast cash". But now, I've been made to see the light in hive communities! I was brought on board by a friend!

He re-motivated me. And this content of your has given me super drive to be more committed.

Thanks once more!

Communities are a great way to get involved and to accelerate your engagement. Leaving a comment like this is a major step forward. It got an upvote which is a bit of a payout for you. However, the bigger piece of the puzzle is you announced your intention to be part of Hive going forward.

There is a lot of wonderful things ahead of us. Glad you are on board.

Mine hive story starts with challenge - addiction - passion and now dedication.

It's a long story to tell, but honestly, unless and untill you won't dedicately involved on Hive...or be anywhere....success never comes to you...

Most of the things you mentioned regarding Tesla, Musk and leadership are actually the reasons why I joined Hive in the first place.

I was on the sidelines when the Steemit takeover took place but I followed the news closely. Seeing Dan and Nathan Mars committing to this new idea and going all-in on social media and on Hive signaled that there was something there. One thing lead to another, I followed a few accounts on Twitter and soon realized that there are a few names constantly popping up and constantly providing amazing content that can't be found anywhere else.

After that Splinterlands took off and alarms kept going off.

That was the tipping point but that is also proof that what you suggested works. If you put everything you have into it people will notice. Without consistency, the noise dies down quickly just like TRX and BTT come and go in waves with no real support behind them.

Hive is the only idea I can truly get behind and hopefully in a few months time I'll be able to go all-in on it.

Agree completely. There are phases of what we can each do based upon our current life situations. However, with the focus being upon the dedication to Hive, over time, hopefully things will spread as life circumstances change.

Being an ardent supporter does help to attract others. We just need to keep growing the number of people talking about it.

I don't believe in Tesla...controversy. From Elon being pompus taking credit for the eletric car company when it causes toxic pollution as it uses that Lithium battery, that's mined, and that contaminated one place, that's what I read.

So, I really don't believe that Teala is there to change the world...ha!! ...elon is there to manipulate the crypto industry joking about breaking up with Bitcoin which affects several hard working struggling retailers.

He is disgusting, so is that Justin Sun... but atleast he left the crypto industry which he never was passionate about, but was great PR person.

These people are for the riches...

Vitalik is a inspiration, I agree...he is there for something pretty big, and he has already changed the world, and I imagine the developers in Ethereum, POlkadot, Cosmos are not there for the money...its to transform things, revolution. Definitely huge benefits will follow.

Now coming to Hive... hmmm...its a tough thought...

I do need money, but its certainly not money that's HIVE for me... its my passion for crypto, writting...and I enjoy these stories, and exciting developments...like Cubfinance and several things like that...communities.

It's engaging... stories of HIVE getting prominent, getting brought for entry for splinterlands(I don't know any thing on the gaming side)... several exciting varietiful communities from travel, cats, crypto, finance, gaming, movies...ohh my!!

There is lot to leatn, explore and grow, which keeps one's engagement in Hive interesting.

Ofcourse some of us, stay abreast try to do our bt as a community by reading and curating, encouraging authors...selecting witnesses through our vote and there is much more...

Active communities tell a lot about the project...generally.

So, HIVE is more than just money...and ofcourse even the tokenomics of Hive is interesting with HBD being a algorithimic stable coin, where we can deposit HBD into savings account and earn good interest.

That's so damn cool...savings, DEFI, stable coins that's not backed by rubbish fiat currency!!

Awesome it is... HIVE is way bigger than a platform to make money and survive for sure, I would say it stimulates my mind and keeps me aline many times. Anyway.

Maybe you should read other stuff. Opinions vary of course but Elon is leading a company that has a trillion dollar market cap, one that is revolutionizing the car industry. You can disagree with what the direction things are going but it is the first new car company ti hit 500K in sales in over 100 years.

So him taking credit for the car company is probably deserved.

Watch this anomyous mmessage to Elon Musk, Tesla was not founded by him and he is taking credit for the work and idea done by someother people.

He does not deserve the honourable mention your provided in your blog... I absolutely appalled by the disgusting example of Tesla!! Sorry to say that.

He is worst than that Justin Sun!!

Well said! Whenever money is placed as the sole motivator in whatever thing we indulge in, there's always a problem. Yes, we need money but it shouldn't be the main goal. Why? There comes a time when the money won't come as envisaged. What will happen then? Give up on your dreams or task?

Passion and vision has proven to be the greatest and lasting motivator of all times. Taking Hive as a case study? Many persons have joined the platform but in a long while, they stopped blogging. Why? The joined with a wrong motive; maybe they joined because they were told there's money to be made here. However, the money and earnings didn't come as they expected or as quick as they wanted. So, they were frustrated and they left.

Meanwhile, they are many who didn't earn big in their early days here but because the had passion for the revolution Hive brings in the world of social media, they remained. If you want Hive to save you then you have to serve Hive. Serving Hive speaks about making Hive a mission. You have the responsibility of engaging and promoting the platform.

Let's continue to support this revolution Hive has started instead of just fixing our gaze on how much we can make from Hive. I see Hive making an impact in the lives of thousands already and in no distant time, Hive will expand even more.

The interesting part to this is the fact that Hive is offering more money making opportunities as time passes. When tribes were introduced along with many of the games, people saw their ability to earn.

You mention what happens if you dont get the money? Here is another one: what happens after you get it if that is your sole motivation? Do you pack up and leave?

That is the question many will be confronted with as their accounts become more valuable. Are they still as heavily involved as when their wallets were small?

I guess when the money has made and wallets blossoming, one should find even more reasons to stay.

I need to do a bit more to try and bring more people onto the platform. I have added a couple over the past year or two, but I think only one of them is fairly active. I just know I could probably be doing more.

Bringing people to the platform isnt always the answer. That is a difficult thing to do and we know an uphill challenge. However, there are other areas we all can commit to that will help.

Those who are engaging in Hive Twitter might be attracting people. Even if they are not talking about Hive but say Splinterlands, it is a great help.

There are many holes to fill so everyone can have a role.

Also for me it is not an "if" but a "when", until Hive will be discovered and valued appropriately.

I agree with the not if but when.

It is only a matter of time. Until then, we all can keep showing our dedication by appearing each day and contributing what we can.

At first, the convergence of fun, technology, and finance as embodied in P2E caught my attention because of this idea of the accessibility of a socio-economic ladder to attain freedom. Never thought that not all crypto currencies embody this "decentralization" ethos. Listening to many "seniors" here on Hive about its core values, I am grateful for stumbling with this amazing and unexpected gift. Freedom, community ownership, censorship-resistance, and decentralization are ideals that are potent enough to bring the kind of change that the world needs. In my little way, I can take these as my mission.

There is a lot to attract people. Some are lured by the P2E and that is wonderful. We have that. Others might be interested in building a commerce site. We could use them.

Whatever people are interested in, we will find a place for it. There is so much going on compared to a few years ago, it is truly amazing.

We have not even scratched the surface. As Splinterlands taught us in 2021, things can explode upwards very quickly. The value of people's Splinterlands holding skyrocketed.

We could see in that in many other areas of the Hive ecosystem. Obviously, the explosive move in HIVE that many of us believe it out there will really set things on fire.

It is still very early in the game.

Wow! You really describe a totally different sense that hive had at the beginning for me, I was very impacted by the phrase:

Success requires operating at a completely different level than most people are accustomed to.

Currently I have proposed to be part of the solution and success of this wonderful platform, although I still have a lot to learn and develop, however, I consider that it is already part of my daily life because I am part of their projects. Thank you for this approach highlighted in this publication, I think that after reading it I am now more focused on the true path of the hive. You have achieved a real transformation. Thank you infinite.

To be carried out, a mission has tons of passion behind it, and at Hive there are many passionate people who at the same time transmit their passion to others so that the platform grows. Some come here because they think they will make easy money, however, in the end, those who stay and progress are those who entered here driven by their passion to create valuable content or be curators, developers, etc., in my case, I'm on this mission and I believe in it!

I'm here because the tools available on this platform really are capable of changing the world for the better. It's not perfect, but it is an amazing gift and I'm thrilled to be able to witness what I believe a first in humanity (not Hive per se, but the tools we now have).

I really do believe this is the best blockchain and certainly the most undervalued.

It it my mission? Yes it is.

I think about how Hive gives me a way to help people I have never met. I see stories from around the world of people who are working for a better life. As I grow my Hive balance, I want to do more than upvote. I want to contribute HBD through tips. I don't know what it is called economically or socially, but I think Hive is a great opportunity for people to help others on a personal basis, without loss to the high cost of administration in most charities.

It is great to see.

I feel that hive is part of my life, I made it my mission when I created a system to include people like me who know nothing about this world, I ran it twice and it was successful but I made a mistake in something that is vital.

I wanted to bring to hive entrepreneurs, traders, micro businessmen, who would bring great things to hive and its community, they entered but did not last because their businesses were more profitable than what they could earn with the effort required in hive.

So, I think you make hive your life's mission when you come in with nothing looking for an opportunity and you find it. I am an example of commitment because I dedicate the most time of my life to hive and I appreciate so much its currency that is my best treasure, looking for less profitable alternatives to sustain me while I grow my hive capital, despite the days that like today I did not do well in my post even though I spent two days to build it, tomorrow I will get up again with more strength to create another content that contributes to the community.

I have never been a bare minimum type of person and being employed is odious. Other than my Military career I have been fortunate enough to stay mainly self-employed except for a 2 year and then a 1 year period of employment at Walmart after I recovered from a stroke.

You are correct in that most of my Offline friends and family are employed and are a bit afraid to venture out on their own. I think they have an idea about the type of energy that goes into being self-made successes, and they are comfortable where they are.

Comfort is death :-D
