Veews As The Everything Application

This is a concept I am fully buying into. It is the goal of Elon Musk with Twitter and, I feel, that for Hive to compete, we have to take the same approach.

Fortunately, we have a number of front ends that could be in line for this. One is obviously Leofinance. Khal has stated on a number of occasions the goal for this platform. The addition of LeoThreads is just one example. They are seeking to merge social media and finance.

As for the rest, I am not sure if the message is falling on deaf ears or not. There is one other application that I believe can be a contender in this. It is relatively new yet brings something to the table that is not duplicated so far. This should put it in strong position going forward.

That application is Veews.

If you had not tried this, it is certainly worth checking out.

Content Discovery On Hive

Veews is really the first content discovery platform on Hive. It is modeled after Stumbleupon, one of the early Web 2.0 social media apps. This was popular around the same time as Digg.

The basic premise is the use of machine learning. Users select from a variety of categories, which helps to narrow the search. As pages pop up, one can either give it a thumbs up or down. This is not related to one's Hive vote. Instead, it is the mechanisms that feeds the ML engine, allowing it to "learn" one's preferences over time.

It is a rather simply concept. At present it is limited to posts that are still in the Hive 7 day voting window. Eventually, it will revert back to the genesis block, pulling all content on Hive, which started in 2016.

There is also a content distibution feature. So far, posts can be shared directly from the application on Twitter, DBUzz, or LeoThreads. This is a great way to enhace the exposure of Hive-based content.

Here we see the merging of Web 2.0 with Web 3.0. The application is server based yet the data (content) is being pulled from the blockchain. This allows anyone who posted to get in a rotation where different people will see their work. Of course, the more that is up there (when it opens to the full database), the greater chance one is seen. Here is where the long-term focus will pay off.

Is there anything else on Hive that mirrors this? The answer is no.

Hence, we have an application that is already taking a different path.

How To Make It The Everything Application

Here is where the fun begins. Please keep in mind these are simply my ideas and no reflaction of the concepts the development team is involved with.

To start moving this in that direction, however, here are the steps that should be taken:

  • Integrate with LeoThreads

Like blogging, microblogging on Hive is at the base layer. What Leofinance created is not theirs. It simply opens up a blog post (called a contrainer) and lets everyone use it via the comment section.

Veews could create a section of the front end that incorporates this feature. It would allow Veewers to never leave the app yet engage in "threading".

  • Long Form Content

The team already has a front end for this. However, since it is going back to a fork of Steemit, the flexibility is limited. By placing it on Veews, the team would have more control on what features were built into the blogging platform.

Again, this is another tab on the UI that allows the individual to switch to the feature. The team already incorporated its token into different applications so this can be done.

  • Hive Wallet And Exchange

Another vital feature is to build in access to one's Hive wallet along with the Internal Exchange. We are moving towards the combination of social media and finance. Here is a prime example where the finance could be added to the social media site.

It would allow people to engage in base layer financial activities while enabling the swapping between the native coins (HBD and $HIVE)

  • Marketing Platform

The team already built Listnerds. This should be accessible from Veews. At the same time, other popular social media such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Reddit, and whatever else is possible should be considered. Again, this should be thought of as a content distribution platform.

It is likely interest goes up as one can quickly distribute his or her work. Taking care of it all from one application is crucial.

  • Video Upload

Here we see another social media platform, TikTok, starting to take over. People feel video is very powerful and having that housed in Veews only adds to it. This is something we see 3Speak working on with many applications and this one should be no different.

It is a matter of not so much having something nobody else has but, rather, keeping up with them. Video is a large part of content creation and social media development.

  • Veewing Levels

This is something we will put forth only in concept. It could be tied to the future tokenomics which none of us are familiar with.

Veewing Levels should be lifetime culmination of Veews done. It can be based upon the number of times one hit "next" or the number of thumbs. A hierarchy of levels can be established to incentivize more activity. This, of course, would some with some reward.

Perhaps it is part of the token distribution. Another feature, depending upon what else is built regarding smart contracts, could be in the form of NFTs. One idea is to let the NFTs be redeemable for having non-Hive content inserted into the rotation. Thus, if someone has a blog or a favorite site, they can work to get it onto Veews.

In Conclusion

These are just a few of the ideas I had with Veews. Of course, the advantage to something like this is, once we see an idea on Hive, it can be integrated. For example, a couple apps tried the Quora idea of question and answer. That could simply be added as another tab to the application.

The point being that, in the future, if we are going to gravitate towards one or two apps, it best have most of what we want. I believe the era of using hundreds of different applications for things is over. We are going to start moving to the ones that provide us with the most.

Veews could also consider getting into the DeFi arena. This could be done by tying in other features. Perhaps even the integration of some games could be done.

We will see what the project team has in store. These are just a few of my ideas.

It's been some time since I last visited Veews. Does it give you a lot of content that you downvoted internally (inside Veews)? I only used it for like a few hours but that issue kept knawing at me but I wouldn't be surprised if it's better for you because you used it more.

The more you use it, the better it gets. The more other people use it, the better it gets.

It is machine learning, it requires the input of a lot of data. In this case it is the thumbs.

Is this a form of automated algorithm. It will be good for people with interest and those with poor rich. Adding to the work of communities and good engagement.
