Sunday Supper Sandwich
Hello Hello Hivians
This afternoon was a washout in more ways than one!
Dreich, wet and cold and it felt like the first day of winter.
The bright spot of the afternoon was that I managed to nip down to the shops to get some groceries for the next couple of days, without getting rained on!
I have seen a couple of sandwich posts from @fionasfavourites and @lizelle and thought it was high time that I posted in the wonderful new community that is S A N D W I C H and was created by the mad silverite brother of mine @mondoshawan, I think it is time that @coquicoin joined in the sandwich postin!
So let's see if we can shill this new community and get some sandwich posts coming along.
That was my typical weekday lunch.
A loaded sandwich with salad meat and cheese, served with mini bbq pork pies and salt and vinegar crisps (not chips thank you very much)
Now sandwiches I am sure mean different things to many people in different countries.
In the UK we are fed sandwiches from the moment we are allowed solid food.
I generally tend to think of sandwiches being closed like in the picture above.
Open sandwiches like the one I will show you now, I associate as not being sandwiches, however this is nonsense.
We used to call open sandwiches as Danish sandwiches and they are generally hot!
I defer to what Wikipedia says
An open sandwich, also known as an open-face/open-faced sandwich, bread baser, bread platter or tartine,[1] consists of a slice of bread or toast with one or more food items on top.
Q How do you eat an open sandwich?
A Etiquette-wise, it is wise to eat an open face sandwich with a knife and fork because your toppings may spill from said bread and this would be a tragedy all around.
So there we have it, when we want some warm baby food, and want to use up leftovers, slap it on some toast, put it on a tray, eat it while lounging in front of the telly and call it an Open Sandwich!
Now for some raspberry trifle for dessert, I don't think that will go on bread!

Aaaaaah, i miss me some salt&vinegar walker chips, you just made me remember my Pub Times. Sandwich or not to sandwich, that's no question... Nothing can beat the Salt&Vinegars.
And you can't imagine, but everything goes on bread... for example i make an awesome cheese-fondue-open-sandwich. Definitely best eaten with an open face... hahahaha
Salt & Vinegar or Cheese & Onion are my two favourites!
Now that cheese sandwich of yours sounds the business!
Cheese is just perfect for sandwiches in so many different ways!
It's not a true sandwich unless it has bread on top and bottom.
jeje I tend to agree, a sandwich is like that, and will make one so I can take to the park for a morning walk this morning!

We used to ( I still do...at times) make a potato crisp sandwich, was very popular at school especially, when Mom's sandwiches were boring😉

yes mini pork pies, those bbq ones are quite tasty, normally I go for pork and pickle for a change but they were tasty...
jeje salt and vinegar do win and then for me cheese &onion are a good second.
You know, because we so rarely find them here, I'd be going for the plain ones. And hot English Mustard... If no salt & vinegar, I go for the balsamic vinegar...

Yes, I have to post in Sandwich and this week I sure will. This morning I had arepas for breakfast and after I ate I thought I could have made a post of my areping sandwich LOL, but it was too late, it was in my tummy.

Every now and then I do enjoy a good sandwich. Actually, I think I have a post lined up within the next day or two about an excellent sandwich I just had. No chips or crisps with it either... "frips". They were excellent!

Oh,.seriously my first time knowing that open sandwich😅. Was used of the traditional one, of course bread and some spreads..just simple,two pieces of wheat bread, chiz whiz and done😆.

jeje that was lunch and for me dinner is my bigger meal.
Rice with everything, it is funny for me. When I eat rice I get full, but twenty minutes later I am starving inday!
