The reaction of many readers (this reader ) will definitely be that there is something wrong with allowing 7-year-olds to have a phone and to have free access to the Internet. That objection aside, the story is well told. No one would envy that mother. And firm treatment (punishment) would seem to be in order after this disastrous morning.
These objections aside, you certainly have strong character descriptions and address the prompt well (mother's pride in her children).

Absolutely true. I don’t allow my child any screen time other than a video call with his grandma everyday.
I got caught up in the whimsy of the situation.
