I begin my comment by thanking you for this story, for the pleasant moments I spent reading this epic tale. I did expect another end, and am always delighted when an author surprises me. It would be so natural (and customary) for the son of Imitoken to rise up and kill his father. However, we are spared that predictable, circular justice. You offer a more complex picture.

The idea that love was the motivation for Imitoken's whippings, that he is caged because someone cares deeply for him...that idea surprises us.

The story is beautifully told, in a style that suggests the weaving of a legend. A wonderfully successful story, @warpedpoetic.

Your insights are always bring clarity to my writing. You seem to identify the idea that drive my writing. I am thankful. Your feedback means a lot to me.

Love is not always expressed as comfort. Sometimes we are denied things for our own good.

I almost did point the story towards that direction. I thought of it but it didn't feel good to end it like that. It felt too easy. I don't like writing easy stories.

And they're not interesting to read, either. Certainly not memorable. Always a pleasure to be surprised :)
