This is a Chain story passed between @zakludick and @therneau. Each writer authors a post based on the events of previous episodes and carries on the story.

There is very little collusion between the writers as it is challenging to discover and develop a story by attuning the writing to the partner's plot, style, and presentation.

Last Time on Space Lore ZT

The crews aboard the fused Lazarus Falchion and Pathfinder XVIII were preparing for a series of space jumps, in an attempt to escape the incoming ship (Queen), as her lightning bugs continued blasting away at their shields.

After the sixth jump, they landed on solid rock.

The Queen attempted to track the fused ship’s movements as they jumped about, crossing vast spaces throughout space. The second jump already created confusion, as J5 landed them close to a large comet.

‘He’s sly, indeed,’ she thought, as the AI deliberately landed them there to disrupt her senses.

Upon the sixth jump, she was aware of their general location, yet another smart move by the AI.

Landing on Earth displayed millions of similar signatures to the humans aboard the Lazarus Falchion. Another jump would cause the Queen to temporarily lose their trail and her hold on their unique energy signatures. It will become distorted among the masses of similar signatures on Earth.

By the time she managed to get a firm lock on their location, they were gone. J5 did it. He outfoxed the Queen.

She let off a shrill scream that was loud enough to destroy any human being’s eardrums. Luckily, she was lightyears away as her screams filled the voids of space.

‘Earth. I need to go to Earth now,’ she thought, as she telepathically communicated to her swarm to set course. Once there, she’ll be able to scan enough human signatures to eliminate any potential confusion caused by this move.

The Queen was furious. Time was being wasted and tracking the ship through space would take up even more valuable energy now.

‘Perhaps that planet has the correct resources to recharge,’ she thought, as they set forth towards planet Earth.

“Final jump,” Captain Aujuk announced in sync with J5.

‘Thank goodness,’ the captain thought. She’d performed lots of space jumps in the past, however, ten in a row even took its toll on her.

The humans aboard the fused ships were groaning. Even those that didn’t have a recent meal, spewed saliva all over as their stomachs cramped in convulsion.

Some species aboard remained in their dormant state, allowing their bodies to re-adjust before returning to normal.

Captain Freyai Codine’s comms lit up.

“Pathfinder, this is J5 speaking. We have successfully lost the tracking ship. All threats are neutralized.”

Freyai looked about. They were close to a planet that was enveloped in debris. They were so close, that the captain could identify the shapes of some of the larger rocks circling about.

She hit the comms on her screen.

“J5, this is Captain Freyai Codine. First, I want to extend my gratitude.”

Her comms quickly lit up as J5 responded.

“There’s no need for gratitude. You and Specialist Aujuk understand the importance of this fusion.”

Freyai realized J5 was referring to the Ochophial.

“Very well,” she responded, “Thank you nonetheless.”

“Now, if you could please tell me where we are and what we’re doing here?” Freyai asked.

“That ship that was tracking us is headed to planet Earth. It will distinguish the human signatures aboard our ships from those on Earth. Then it’s going to resume its search.”

“Okay, but that doesn’t answer my question.”

“Not yet,” J5 flatly responded.

“We’re going to steer this ship to the planet below. I deliberately chose X1406 since it will create enough disturbance to allow us to continue our work without worrying where the Queen is.”

“Wait, hold on a minute. How the heck are we going to steer this ship through that? Who the heck are we and what work are you talking about?”

“Captain,” the AI took on a softer tone, “In good time you will understand the importance of what we’re doing. As for we, I’m referring to -“ the captain interrupted.

“Specialist Aujuk. Of course,” she said, as she looked towards him.

“Yes, that is correct. As for steering the ship through this debris field, I believe you have one of the finest pilots around. It would have been ideal to land on the planet with a jump, but that wasn’t possible.”

“Why not?”

“I’m unable to get a clear landing signature.”

Freyai looked out at the debris again. G’Kyelle was indeed one of the best pilots she’d ever met, but this? This just seemed insane.

“I know what you’re thinking,” J5 said suddenly, interrupting her thoughts, “She will have all the assistance needed to make it through.”

Freyai thought out loud, “I guess you’ve got us this far.”

Writing in tandem quite original, here you and @zakludick show how a story comes to life of it's own. Well done to both of you, sadly I have missed much with too much life action to read at the moment.

Will be back to catch full gist of this story line @therneau

Thank you @joanstewart. I'm so sorry about the terrible happenings there by my Durb's Fam! Hoping that life can return to the best sense of normality sooner rather than later. Much love!

I am looking forward to the next episode. There was a book written like this in the early 60s. I think it was called Candy. Thanks for sharing on ListNerds.

Oh, that's interesting. By written like this do you mean in a tandem kind of way, like we're doing here?

I'm glad you enjoyed it and we can tag you in going forward if you want?

Cheers!
