Splinterlands SPS Stake

Now that I almost completed my #HIVE power goal of 1500 (tomorrow the last funds come in for that), I can focus on my 2022 goals on Hive. In my last update I mentioned that Splinterlands was not a priority at this moment. Although I decided to build my $SPS stake somewhere in the next months, I had no idea when exactly. Until yesterday I was just reading @cryptictruth's SPS update and started to doubt if I should really wait any longer to up my stake on Splinterlands. As if the Gods were messing with me, hours later I noticed the market fall and the SPS price down to 18 something cents. I had about 3700 SPS staked for quite some time, with the last big buy of 2000 SPS when it was at 30 cents, not long before it started to go up a lot!

For a long time the price was too high for me to add to my stake

I was constantly waiting for the price to go really low and hoping for it to go even lower than the 30 cents I paid at the time for the 2000 SPS. But on the other hand, I also was content as this amount combined with my current collection power gave me a few bucks in rewards each day without having to do anything more but press the claim button. I felt there were better coins to but my money in as earnings weren't unlimited. I even decided to sell the SPS coming from farming and daily airdrop, including the vouchers, so that I could add a few bucks a day to other HE coins.

Now that I reached some goals

And feel comfortable with the number of coins I have from these projects I was buying, the drop in price yesterday came at a very convenient moment. I had some liquid hive to spend and after carefully calculating the number of Hive I can swap tomorrow when my HBD come back from savings, I knew this extra HIVE could be spent on SPS if I'd wanted to. I checked how much I'd pay for 250 SPS and left about half of my Hive liquid. I staked it and later I thought I should just add that part as well and buy another round of 250 SPS. So yesterday my stake of 3700 grew with another 500 SPS.

Higher voucher drop

This morning I saw the voucher drop was slightly higher and checked the price, I decided to think about it a little longer. Until this afternoon when I saw the price was going up again (I didn't see the update from @splinterlands yet at that time) and bought another 250 SPS to add to my stake. I now have 4229 SPS staked:

Even though the voucher drop is almost over, at least I will benefit for a few more days thanks to a higher SPS stake.

After I did this, I saw the update on the Splinterlands account

I read that there will be SPS validator nodes and in the second quarter of 2022 the Riftwatchers collection will be released, which made me very excited! I read you will need to pay these packs with SPS, so I assume this will make SPS appealing to buy around that time. Some more interesting info:

In total, that's over 53M fewer SPS tokens that will be distributed each month starting in the latter half of 2022, and that rate will continue to decrease by 1% each month going forward as specified in the SPS token whitepaper.

As for the remaining reward pools (listed here), we are planning to implement the SPS reward pool for ranked battles around the time that the airdrop is scheduled to end so that players can continue to earn SPS through their card collections via battles, and we are also working on implementing the reward pool for guild brawls as soon as possible although we do not have an ETA for that at this time.

Additionally, we are planning to implement the ability to delegate staked SPS to other accounts which has been a highly requested feature by players for things like tournament entry requirements. We expect that to be released in Q1 of 2022.

I don't know but these updates sound like SPS will go up in value, without a doubt.

And the price went up

I soon noticed that probably more people read the update as the chart of SPS looked like this:

When I will set myself some Hive goals for 2022, I will now defo include SPS in my plans. Currently, DEC is not looking appealing and I will still leave this out for the time being, but reading the update, this will probably change somewhere next year when they start adding utility to DEC. Until then, SPS will have my attention. :)

For now, I will most likely stop selling the SPS coming from farming and airdrop, but compound it, adding it to my stake. I want to have as many SPS as possible when the new collection is released, and before the crazy airdrop year of $SPS ends.

What about you? Have you taken advantage of the dip in the price? Let me know in a comment.

Yeah im DCA SPS as I believe in the project and value they create. This is a long distance run not a sprint.

Yes, I can see that. The plans for 2022 are promising and probably the things they build afterwards will be even more interesting as SPS is getting scarcer.

I didn't know SPS had a payout...and 39%?! Wow! I'm just getting started, but I do know that having goals helps direct reality. It looks like your focus and determination paid out and based on the image you showed...will continue to pay out for a long time coming! Congrats!

So now you know ;)
It's quite fun actually to get the SPS aidropped by holding cards/dec etc.
Then stake these SPS that have been airdropped and earn farming rewards on that stake again. More SPS :) repeat!

Enjoy :)

That’s great that you added more! I’ve finally got to my voucher goal this morning so now I’ll be able to sell vouchers and get more hive. I might invest that in SPS, not entirely sure just yet but i was a little disappointed that the new promo deck is going to be purchasable with SPS and the things cost 5$… prices keep going up sadly! I guess there’s plenty of time for us to save up SPS before the edition comes out!

Oh congrats on reaching your voucher goal! I've been DCA selling them daily lol.

The Promo deck was expected to be around 5 dollars, because if you remember untamed it was 2000 dec, while DICE (promo) was 3000 dec.

These promo decks have less packs in total so will eventually be more rare.

Not sure how I will manage to do so but aiming to get 100 packs of that serie maybe will need to power down some SPS at the time, but until then probably trying to fill the bag SPS a bit more to farm more rewards and compound it. Will see how it goes :)

Yeah I'm going to sell them the rest of the airdrop to try and get some funds back. Spent quite a bit overall on the game these past few months! I think it's a worthy investment though, at least I hope lol.

I remember the increased price of the promo stuff versus regular editions, I guess with the limited supply it's important to make sure they don't flash sale. I hope they introduce vouchers for those as well (don't remember if I read they were doing that or not) so they won't go out instantly! I'd definitely love to snag 100 or more of them if I could. I'll reach my goal SPS of 17k hopefully in the coming weeks (nearly 15k now) then I'll be hoarding all of it in preparation for the new promo's!

Not sure to be honest, I don't think there will be vouchers needed, if that is the case I wont be able to buy 100 lol. I'm seriously refusing to pay for these vouchers only to maybe unlock cards that will be airdropped. There are just too many packs sold and I see these chances increasing by the day. Not going to risk spending all that money on vouchers for nothing. I may see it wrong though, fair enough, then I will focus on the SPS part :)

Yeah I know the vouchers were a touchy subject for sure. I think it was done to hopefully curb the big whales that wanted to just drop 100k$ and buy a fuck ton of packs and leave little or nothing for everyone else. I think the general sale will definitely be a cluster fuck! hahaha

The vouchers did mess with the people who just wanted to try the game and buy less than 10 or 20 packs to see what they could get, that I think wasn't great but it's hard to mend both worlds!

I still feel bummed for not being able to buy 100 packs to be honest. I mean, there was no way that I could have bought the remaining 70 vouchers AND pay for the packs. I ended up buying maybe 15 packs in total, 10 only directly in-game.

I decided not to feel shit about it anymore and just use the few bucks a day I got dropped extra to move into other coins where I saw fit. It is what it is anyway..

The riftwatchers collection seems more interesting to me, so I may even end up skipping the general sale of Chaos completely, we'll see.
