Pob-wotw - FRAILTY. the point where assistance is needed.

Frailty is the condition of weakness, being fragile and delicate, it is a situation when strength is being degraded. As old age rolls in, man begins to experience frailty (shrinking skin, weakness in the body system) leading to less active sense organs, needing all form of assistance they can get from people in their immediate environment as they no longer have the ability to do the things they use to do before.

Few days ago, I was asked to get some things from a nearby supermarket, as I approached the supermarket I saw a woman nearby begging people for alms for feeding, she looked familiar to me, when I moved closer to her, she was one of my mistress back then in primary school, she was looking poor and wretched, she has changed from the person I used to know, her whole body, her stature. What could have happened to her. I was surprised to see her in that position and situation. I gave her the little I had, though it can't solve her present situation.

I thought about her family and friends, what could have happened to her, even if she has no family and friends, she could be where old people do stay with free accommodation and ultimate care, i doubt if the place is properly managed.

When she was still young, she was agile and strong, she was an hardworking person, she worked to put food on her table from her monthly salary and petty things she do sell.

She could no longer do all those things again due to frailty or all other things that might have happened to her that made her ended up in that situation.

Old age is a stage in every man's life when frailty increases, at this stage, old people needs full attention and concentration as they can no longer do things they do before, the have become weak. They need every possible help from people especially their loved ones; families and children, physical appearance can also go a long way.

This is one of the reasons why people birth, guide and train their children to secure their old age. Although some children ignore their parents after making it in life. They forget that table do turn, old age will definitely reach them. It might be that the woman I saw at the supermarket was ignored by her children.

We all have people around us who are in this phase(frailty) of their life, they need people around them to help them out with some basic things they are weak to do, they were ones young, very strong in what they do, but as time goes they had to stop because of lack of power. Children should try as much as possible to show love and care to their older ones as they will one day grow old and need people around to help them also.

Everyone's prayer is to grow old, younger ones should be fair and respectful to their elders, lay a good foundation so that when their time comes, the good they have done will be repaid by their younger ones. Help while you can
