Why Winners Focus on Social Details
You ever had that moment when you were chilling with a friend..
And a stranger came up to your friend and was like...
'Yo what's good!'
This person was a stranger in YOUR world.
But in your friend's world?
This individual was a friend.
So your friend starts talking with this fellow for a long time...barely even introducing you.
And you're standing there, twiddling your thumbs.
When a few seconds go on by, you're cool with it.
But when a few minutes go on by, now shit is getting annoying.
'Either introduce me or integrate me into the conversation, dumbass' you lowkey wonder.
Yep..
This may sound familiar.
'It does man, how do you know?'
It's because this situation has happened to me many times.
It happens to all of us.
When a moment like this happens, it's easy to get angry.
Once this other particular fellow leaves, you may look at your friend differently.
Thinking this 'friend' lacks respect.
The friend doesn't necessarily lack respect.
They lack social awareness.
We often use awareness in ambiguous terms.
But awareness in itself can be niched.
A person may be great with their awareness in one area of life while falling flat in another area of life.
Sometimes, what we consider common sense is an insight for someone else.
The thing with winners is that they do their best to avoid the mistake I mentioned above.
Winners integrate asap.
"How DON'T winners introduce?"
Winners don't just say someone's name & call that an introduction.
Just saying someone's name & thinking that's an introduction causes more problems than solutions.
Now the group & the new individual is in a stand still.
Who makes the first move?
It's up to the person making the introduction to not only introduce the name, but also take it a level further by properly integrating the individual into the group dynamic.
'How does the integration work?'
Very simple.
I'll say something interesting about the new person that will resonate with the group.
And often the group will have one member who will ask a follow up question.
That's how we get the ball moving...
Introductions are key in the social world because it's all about networks.
It's a game of keeping it simple to get the momentum rolling.
You know those extremely skinny balloons clowns blow into in order to make the animals?
"Yea, I've seen those skinny balloons before."
Well, the first 2 blows are VERY hard.
Takes a toll on the lungs.
But after getting the first 2 blows into the balloon, the momentum is built, allowing the rest of the balloon to easily take shape.
Failing at properly introducing someone is often noticed.
And to figure out how it's noticed requires us looking back in our own lives.
- When did someone fail to introduce us?
- When did someone give us the cold shoulder while talking to someone else?
- And when did 2 parties get so caught up in an inside joke, that they forgot the rest of the parties involved?
These moments help us spot awareness on the details.
We don't want to get too caught up in the details to a point where we are being overly intellectual.
Rather, we just want to be AWARE of the details.
By being aware of the details in the social sense...we gradually start to amplify the niche of awareness that deals with social skills.
Mistakes that were once obvious now become a cardinal sin.
That's how we are capable of understanding the mistakes of others, while avoiding these same pitfalls.. for ourselves.

This here is something that drives me crazy lol. "'Either introduce me or integrate me into the conversation, dumbass' you lowkey wonder." This is exactly how what we are left thinking when it happens ;-) Some people may struggle with social awareness at a deeper level and I'm ok with that. If they are already a friend of mine, I will likely be aware of their struggles and therefore help them with the introductions myself. However, some people are just outright rude...and that should be addressed, first with diplomacy and later perhaps a more decisive line may be needed. Then again there are those who don't introduce because they honestly can't remember one of the party's names ha ha (this can happen if one of the parties is simply an associate that they don't know very well and haven't seen in a long time). But I hear you...it can make for a very awkward situation!
Facts man
Looking forward to building a better network with you Buddy 🙂
