Are all women witches? 😉

Hello my dear friends!

Recently, a song by the Ukrainian group Angy Kreyda appeared on the network. It immediately became popular. The lyrics of the song were written by Lyudmila Gorova.

This song is written like a witch spell. I liked the words and rhythm and I decided to share it with you. But then I thought it would be nice to tell you a little... about our witches. Of course, this should not be taken literally. Witches have always been part of our folklore and the attitude towards them was not quite common.

I must say that there is nothing surprising in this. Ukraine is an agricultural country. This means that the population has always paid close attention to the forces of nature and considered it possible to call on them for help. What in other countries could be considered witchcraft, for our people was common and familiar.

Historical studies show that the Ukrainian "witches" were rarely prosecuted. If this happened, the punishment was usually a fine. Thus, the fires of the Inquisition bypassed Ukraine.

And here is a fact that seemed interesting to me as a dog lover. It was believed that the seventh born puppy from the seventh born dog could recognize the witch. Witches sought to kill such puppy 🐶 😲

The capital of witches is certainly Kyiv (although, probably, the Konotop witches will not agree with me). It is in Kyiv that the famous Bald Mountain is located, where, according to legend, witches spend their covens.

There was a saying: Do not marry in Kyiv, do not change mares in Romny. Having married Anna Akhmatova in Kyiv, the poet Mykola Gumelev wrote: "From the snake's lair, from the city of Kyiv, I took not a wife, but a sorceress." By the way, now the attitude towards marriage to Kyiv women has changed 😉

I also thought that I made a mistake. In my Energies of Nature, I never wrote about our women's customs and rituals. I'll fix this soon and hope the war doesn't get in the way of my plans (I'm a bit of a witch too, after all 😉 so I don't let it do it).

In the meantime, the song with which, in fact, it all began. Below I also added two translation options, I don’t know which one is better.

Translation:

Sowing in thine eye,
Sowing in the night.
Thou shall get, my foe,
By the Witch’s word.

How many rye seeds
Went to holy soil,
Just as many times, foe,
Shall thou be destroyed.

How many cries, foe,
Rooster gives at night,
That shall be the count, foe,
Of days until thou die.

Unto God - the God’s,
Unto foe - the foe’s.
Thou shall get, my foe,
By the Witch’s word.

How many steps, foe,
Make thou in Ukraine,
That many of thy clan folk
End in early graves.

Over half the world
Shall the curses work.
Thou shall get, my foe
By the Witch’s word.

My pysanka is painted,
Cradle’s swinging steady,
While thy mother, foe,
Shall be childless crone,
And for thy father, foe,
Death shall be the solace,
And thy spouse, foe,
Shall wither in dishonour.

Unto God - the God’s,
Unto foe - the foe’s.
Thou shall get, my foe,
By the Witch’s word.

Once I sift my grief through
Our finest sieve,
Thou shall pray for death throes
As a wanted gift.

But thou shall not find, foe,
Quick and easy death,
And in death itself, foe,
Shall you find no rest.

This my word is sticky,
This my word is sinewy,
Thou shall get, my foe,47
By the mother’s word,
Thou shall get, my foe,
By the good wife’s word,
Thou shall get, my foe,
By the maiden’s word,
Thou shall get, my foe,
By the young child’s word,
Thou shall get, my foe,
By.
The.
Witch’s.
Word.

Women are sometimes called devil, which is inappropriate and I don't like it.

Very cool song, I like it. I have several witch related songs in my YouTube playlist that I listen to a lot. Thanks for sharing this and the pics. I wish you all the best!

A safe haven for witches!! I'm not down with the dog-killing, but the rest is amazing.
I think women are more likely to feel connected to the earth because we do things like bleed with the cycles of the moon.
