Free Guy is a 2021 movie which is a mix of comedy and action that is directed by Shawn Levy, which screenplay was written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn with the story belonging to Lieberman, it was produced by Ryan Reynolds, Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti, Adam Kolbrenner and Shawn Levy.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there was a year delay in the release of the movie, it was first released on 10th of August 2021 at Locarno and then released theatrically in United State on the 13th of August 2021 in IMAX, 3D, 4DX and Dolby cinema formats by the 20th century studio who are the distributor of the movie.

It received alot of positive reviews from people for the concept and the science fiction wigh the action game it has. It has a running time of 115 minutes and was filmed in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA.

STORYLINE

This movie is about a popular vidoe game called Free city, A bank teller (Ryan Reynolds) known as Guy founds out he is a NPC ( non player character is a character which is usually in the background in the game that has some set of actions or responses that has been predetermined in it, the game player has liberty to play with it physically in the game or have dialogue with it, in a short word NPC usually doesn't have their own free will but rather do what they are programmed to do) when he met with the girl of his dream who is a human player, the lady had so much effect on him, the game and also the real world. He became the hero of the story by saving his friend from been deleted from the game by the game owner.

CAST

The top cast comprises of Ryan Reynolds as the main role playing the role of Guy, Jodie Comer who plays the role of Millie the human player Guy fell in love with, Lol Rel Howery Guy's friend a police officer in the bank, Utkarsh Ambudkar as the mouser in the game company, Joe Keery as Keys Miller best friend and Taika waititi as Antwan owner of the game company.

PLOT

Millie is looking for an evidence to her source code which she wrote with her best friend Key in the real world, the source code was stolen by the head developer.of the game Free city which company name is Soonami.

Key feels for her but us helpless as he just accepted a job with the Soonami company and thus decline helping her, in the Free city game Millie is known as Molotov Girl as she tries to find her source code with the game but something interesting happened as she caught the attention of Guy because she matches his perfect description of his dream girl and also heard her singing his favourite song by Mariah Carey FANTASY, he then got distracted from his programmed character, he then summoned courage to take a sunglass from a player who was robbing the bank and saw the version of players interface, chasing after Millie his dream girl.

Guy was believed to be a hacker disguising as an NPC by Key and his vo worker Mouser trying to ban him from the game at all cost which the failedin doing so, Millie w6et to the stash where she believe her source code is, the area is a well guarded compound as it contains important data.

Guy sneaked up to meet her at the location and an argument surfaced causing the guards to notice them and started firing at them which led to a failed mission they had to leave.

Millie checking Guys player experience notice it was still in level 1 and told him he is a novice and he needs to increase is level experience till he gets to 100 before they can talk and this led to Guys popularity as he acted generously and completed missions this made him different from other players who are out there doing violence and all sort of attacks, Guy then became popular and was known as the blue shirt Guy.

In the second stash break in, Millie failed again and was surrounded by the guards then Guy showed up helping her to fight them off and escaped with Millie when they got a chance. Guy then fascinated by Millie said he wishes to kiss her, Millie told him to go ahead of he can and he did.

Been in shock Millie told Key about the kiss, Key later revealed to Millie that Guy is an NPC and the artificial intelligence code which was built by Millie to create self awareness in a game and key has added it to the original game they created and this is the cause for the romantic feeling Guy was having towards Millie and his interaction with other NPCa also help them develop their self awareness

Key was ready to help Millie retrieve her code as the head of developers in Sonami wanted to wipe free city form the server so as to create a free city 2 which doesn't sit well with Key.

Millie then needed to save the situation and told Guy about his real identity which caused a rift among them and went ahead to meet his best friend buddy who told him there is more to reality, with buddy Helo he got access to the stash house to retrieve Millie code due to Guys popularity one of his can was a guard in the stash wbe gave Them the evidence willingly.

This became a threat to Antwan and orders a reboot to remove Guys memories of Millie but she restored his senses back with her kiss and he remembered the location of the island which is the remaining proof of Millie original code.

Antwan tried to kill Guy and Millie as they journey to the location but his attempts weren't working so Antwan ordered that Dude be sent to the game a very muscular guy and he attacks Guy in the game but Guy outsmarted him and set himself free.

Antwan began smashing the game servers as he was angry and wanted to destroy Guy, he fired Key, as he was about to destroy the remaining server Millie told him he should forsake it while she forget about the lawsuit and also to surrender the profits made from the game to her.

Free city 2 failed at launch without the support of key and Millie and Antwan was arrested for theft and criminal damage, the new fee life was released by key, Millie and Mouser using their code they got back using Dude, Buddy and Guy character in the game. There was then a twist in the story as Guy make Millie realize that is programmed character was a love letter from key to her.

This movie is a revelation as to how metaverse will look like when it is initiated in the nearest future and it seems very exciting to see what it entails and how the future gaming system will look like. Free Guy is an interesting movie that will get you attached to your screen, it's a nice story from Matt Lieberman.
