Question Of The Week 9.6, Why is it so hard to meditate?.

(Edited)

The Latin meditatio verb, which means "to think, contemplate, devise, ponder," is the source of the English meditation. As a step-by-step method of meditation, the term meditatio was first used by the 12th-century Dominican monk Guigo II, although the Greek word Theoria had been in use prior to that.

Beyond its traditional meaning, the term "meditation" was coined by the Sanskrit root "dhyai," which means "to contemplate" or "to meditate," to refer to Eastern spiritual practices, such as Hinduism and Buddhism's I "dhyna." Aside from Buddhist and Hindu practices, the English term "meditation" can also refer to Islamic Sufi practices or other faith-based practices like Jewish Kabbalah and Christian Hesychasm.

In meditation, an individual uses a technique (such as mindfulness or focusing the mind on an object, thought, or activity) to train attention and awareness, and achieve a calm and stable state of mind and body. Numerous religious traditions make use of meditation in their daily practices. The Upanishads contain the earliest references to the practice of meditation (dhyana), and both Buddhism and Hinduism emphasize meditation as an important contemplative tool.

Other cultures have adopted Asian meditative techniques since the nineteenth century and now use them in fields other than religion, such as business and health.
The practice of meditation has been shown to have a significant impact on stress reduction, anxiety reduction, depression reduction, and pain alleviation. To better understand the health benefits of meditation, scientists are conducting research in a variety of fields (psychological, neurological, cardiovascular).

WHY DO PEOPLE FIND IT HARD TO MEDITATE

Even with the benefits which has been attached to Meditation and how important it is, we still find it hard to meditate and this can't be far fetched from reason alot of people complain about. Infact most of this reasons are what I complain about too .

The noises outside and the chatter in our heads can make meditation seem hard or even impossible at first. Doing nothing for too long can make us bored, even if it's just for 10 minutes. This is even worse if we don't know why. When we do simple things like sit still and watch our breath, we get panic, fear, and even anger.

This reasons are very valid to why people find it hard to meditate, I in particular hate sitting still without doing anything, it makes me feel useless. We will be discussing more of why people find it difficult to meditate below.

1 MAKING EXCUSE OF BEEN BUSY

As someone who has young kids or siblings to look after or a full-time job and couple of errands to run, this could be true. However, we're only talking about maybe 10 minutes a day at this point in time.

Most of us spend more time than that reading the newspaper or surfing the web, but we're not alone. It only looks like we don't have time because we usually do a lot of things and never stop. Medically, there is no way to get rid of stress, but meditation is one of the best ways to deal with it. It's worth making space for it, because it can help.

Meditation is important, but the most important thing is that you become friends with it. if you think you have to meditate, for example, and then feel bad if you don't make the time or only meditate for 10 minutes when you said you'd do 30. It's better to practice for a short time and enjoy what you're doing than to sit there with your teeth gritted because you've been told that only 30 or even 40 minutes will make a difference.

Meditation is a friend you can turn to when you need support, inspiration, and clarity. It's like an old friend you can go to when you need help, inspiration, and clarity. It is meant to be fun!.

2 MY MIND IS ALWAYS IN A ROLLING COASTER

Even though it's hard to stop your mind from thinking, it's not impossible. In Eastern thought, the mind is like a drunken monkey bitten by a scorpion because it jumps from branch to branch, just like a monkey does. The mind, on the other hand, is always busy and distracted.

Then, when you come to sit still and try to calm down your mind, you see all this crazy activity going on and it sounds like it's going to explode. A lot of people don't know this, but now they are. Before, they were completely immersed in the chatter and didn't even know it was there.

People often feel like their minds are so busy. Someone once said that during a 30-minute meditation session, we might have more than three hundred thoughts, which is a lot. For years, the mind has been rife with dramas, uncertainty, and self-centeredness. It doesn't know how to be still. Because it wants to have fun. The idea that you can turn it off when you meditate isn't true. It just means that you are like everyone else.

As you continue to sit, you'll notice a reduction in your mental chatter. Every time you catch yourself daydreaming, reflecting on the past, or making plans for the future, remind yourself to return to the present now. Everything else is a waste of time.

3 THERE IS NO POINT MEDITATING

I don't see the reason for meditating. Some individuals feel the benefits of meditation after only one session, but most of us need a week or two to notice a change. So you have to trust the process enough to keep going even before you see results.

Remember that music takes hours to perfect, while flower arranging in Japan might take 12 years to master. Being motionless occurs in a flash, but it may take a while, therefore patience is required.

4 IT'S NOT IN ME

I'm terrible at this. Meditation is impossible to fail. It's OK to sit for 20 minutes pondering worthless ideas. No right or wrong, no unique method. As many meditation styles as there are practitioners, Deb's guru said. So find a manner that works for you (even if it means standing on your head) and keep going.
The objective is to create friends via meditation.

No good if you feel forced to meditate and then feel terrible if you miss the specified time or just complete 10 minutes when you promised 30.

Much better to practice for a few minutes and enjoy it than to clench your teeth because you've been told that 30 or 40 minutes would make a difference. Meditation is a lifelong friend to turn to for support, inspiration, and clarity. Enjoy it!

In conclusion, mediation isn't just a bunch of New Age crap. New Age promises of endless pleasure are easy to get caught up in, but meditation is as old as the hills and has been for a very long time.

The Buddha was a very good meditator who tried and tried many different ways to calm his mind over 2,500 years ago. That's one example of many. All of the world's religions have their own take on the same thing that's been around for a long time. So there isn't anything new, weird, or wacky.
