I like war movies a lot, soldiers, planning, training, rifles, ammunition, tanks. What we mean by war is that there must be weapons, corpses, heavy clothing, cruelty, the cry of losing a loved one, gruesomeness. It is normal to think so because, to win the battlefield, the opponent must be defeated at the cost of anything. But how many people think that saving the wounded soldiers is also important on the battlefield.

Have you ever thought that a man went to the battlefield, got bloody but did not take up arms, did not kill any man but returned at the end of the day as a hero. Desmond Doss was just such a soldier in this movie. His purpose is to go to war without any weapons and saving a life instead of killing. Andrew Garfield played Desmond Dos in this 2016 movie based on a true story, a talented actor.

The gruesomeness of war can be realized when we watch movies or series about world war plots. What kind of situation do the soldiers have to deal with. If a few thousand soldiers were sent in a single battle, only a few soldiers would return alive. In a country-based war, the people of only one country will not die or be harmed, thousands of soldiers of both the victorious and the defeated countries will die. Thousands of rotten corpses around the battlefield. This movie also shows such horror. But it also shows the story of a soldier, a true hero, who came through this horrible World War II without any weapons.

Here, too, a peace activist named Desmond will serve in the war. Everyone laughed at him but Desmond didn't listen.

Let's talk a little bit about the movie, at that time there was a fierce battle going on between the Axis Powers and the Allies. The U.S. forces were almost defeated in the war with the Japanese. Every day a new army had to be brought in to not give up in the war. As they were losing the war, for strategic reasons the U.S. forces set out to occupy a high place called Hacksaw Ridge. Their idea is that it will be easier for the Japanese to lose if they can capture it.

Desmond Doss is a young American, angry disposition since childhood. He used to fight with his brother every day. Their father would deliberately start a fight between the two brothers, Doss grew up. Suddenly one day Dos's father gets drunk and beats his mother, Doss gets angry seeing it. Then he took the pistol and aimed at his father. After that day he promises that he will never hold a rifle in his life. When new troops began to be recruited, Desmond Doss left for the country to take part in the war. But he promised not to hold the rifle in any way.

War is not something that can be won with weapons alone. To win a war, one must have self-confidence, have faith in God, and move forward with courage. Remember that arms are not the solution to winning a war, self-confidence is a big solution to winning a war. And we learned that from Desmond Dos.
We learned a lot from this movie. Here is how strong a person's self-confidence can be. No one should be neglected, but encouraged.
