Wasting Time With Too Many Accounts

I know it makes sense to have multiple accounts on Hive. The way I see alt accounts being used is that each account will vote for a different community. This way, you can conserve Hive Power while rewarding other tokens. For example, I could have TWM.leo for my Leo Community upvotes, TWM.trv for my travel community, and so on. This makes sense from that perspective. And, I have somewhat done that with different accounts. But, I have found myself having diminishing returns.

Time is Money

One of the problems with the multiple interest and multiple account method is that my time gets divided too many ways. I only have so much time in the evenings after work. That's time that I would have to devote personifying each account for each community. But, every minute I don't spend being that account can be considered "lost money". I originally created multiple accounts to have some consistency in the content. This way, readers would know what to expect.

Mistakes Happen

I've had the occasional post go to the wrong account. It works out fine. I get votes and comments. But, the post wasn't representative of the intended account. However, it breaks the whole intent of having consistency.

Consolidating Hive Power

One of the problems I am having is that my Hive Power is too spread out. In time this may balance out. However, for the moment, my votes aren't rewarding recipients too much. My Hive Power is too spread out. I'm having to spend time reading more content and voting more to earn a certain amount of rewards. Yet, I could consolidate and earn more per vote and have spent less time doing it. Again, let's recap that time is money.

Creative Well Runs Dry

Another problem with having multiple accounts is that it tends to run the creative well dry. It is challenging to come up with topics to write about for each alt account. By focusing on one or two, some of that effort can be concentrated on creating better content.

Personal Circumstances

This realization that I need to consolidate my resources into fewer accounts is fitting for me in my personal circumstances. I can't say that you would be better off using one account rather than having multiple accounts. For me, it's just that I have enough trouble being me without also having to be multiple alter-egos in my content creation. The reality is that for the moment, Hive does not produce enough income, by far, that I can focus as much energy on it as I have been. In time, this will change as I invest more savings into Hive. There is bound to be some inflection point at which Hive becomes a significant source of income. However, that is far into the future. For now, I need to focus my attention on my job, which is a decent and satisfying. In ten years time, which is when I qualify to draw pension, I hope to be able to focus my energies into Hive full-time.

Another reason for the pull-back is that I am about to start a new project with a friend. We will be recording our first episode this weekend. If that works out for us, it will also be a call on my time.

The Plan

I have redistributed my HP through delegation from my main account. Now TravelWriteMoney is voting at a higher power in Hive. TWM will be my main working account for interacting with Hive. I have an alt account that is more of a work log, which doesn't really require much effort. I'll be keeping that active. As far as the main account, it can earn from leases without my having to run it. My main account will primarily serve as a financial hub of sorts.

There are other efforts in the works to recapture lost time, which are more applicable in the physical world. Lately, I have been in a fog. I've been stumbling about with no clear direction. It's about time I reassert control and focus on what matters. Time is money. If I'm wasting my time, I'm wasting my money. If I regain control of my time, I'm regaining control of my money. At least that's how I see it.

When using multiple accounts works well, it's great. When using multiple accounts ends up being a thief of time, that's time you'll never get back. That makes it theft x 2.

If it's too much of a hassle, it's not worth the time and effort. In the end, it has to work in your favor.

Yep. You live and learn. I'll be using this account primarily. It's a weight off my shoulders.
