Hi there, it’s me your favorite person Trojan bringing you another article on lifestyle.
Today we will be talking about how to build yourself in becoming independent. Here it goes guys.
Do you ever wonder how parents feel when their child just gets back from boarding in school? I have seen scenarios whereby the parent is either happy or sad. Don’t get wrong, they love the child but he/she also goes with a lot. Yes all child are handful but there are some where you need extra hands. Well those are children, since we are all adults here let’s take it up a bit.

What inspired this was a thought that came into my head when I was about to give up on my plans and dreams.
I asked myself one simple question, “WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO”?
And the answer was quite simple and plain “NO1 WANTS A LIABILITY”.
I’m sure we all know what/who a liability is but let’s check it out. According to the Oxford dictionary, a liability is;

a person or thing whose presence or behavior is likely to put one at a disadvantage.

Collins dictionary describes it as;

if you say that someone or something is a liability, you mean that they cause a lot of problems or embarrassment.

Guessing right here, No1 wants to be a liability. Let’s look at what works for me hopefully you can figure out what works for you in return.

Set a plan…

A little bit of history about myself.
I finished sec school around 2015 then decided not to write JAMB (an exam that qualifies you to be considered for the university’s exam) why did I decide not to? I wanted to see life, hustle small not because we were finding it difficult be make earn meat and stuffs like that but to know more about the course I wanted to study (Elect/Elect) and my life afterward. During those years, I worked as an intern for a company that deals with fire alarms, sprinklers, FM 200, etc. The work took me from Lagos to Aba Abia State (Nigerian Breweries ) and from Abia to Calabar (CBN ).

That was when I saw life in general. I was self-dependent having been the youngest there, no1 cared about me that was when I decided to do all it takes to be able to stand alone.
After my service with them, I eventually got admission and started to work my way through. Meeting @k-banti I don’t know if he noticed something. Everyone I stayed at his place during weekends or during exams, I was like getting myself engaged in the place. Sometimes I cook, sometimes I tidy the place sometimes I fetch water. Just wanted to feel welcomed and not to make the host regret having me @starstrings01 can testify to some at his end also. We also got to work with crypto back then (Steemit) thanks to him I had to develop some skills.

Having served under that company, I decided what I wanted to do after my schooling (ELV) and in that case, fate agreed with my plan as for my 3 months SIWES and 1 year IT, I ended working in a company still in line with that my past work. Thanks to my past knowledge all they needed to do were instruct me on what we needed to achieve and when. I was not a liability but becoming kind of an asset.

I knew this when my supervisor would leave me on-site in charge and head off to another site for maintenance, when I would get calls on Friday evenings to go fix up a complaint at a station all by myself and when they increased my IT allowance. I was so excited that I was on my way to fulfilling my plans.
Some of the works we did..

Selection of Friends-

The thought of not being a liability and fending for myself pushed me to be quite selective about the people I move with. Unconsciously, I started moving with people that had the same plans as mine. Although we were students and normally our parents are responsible for us but we just didn’t want to stress them with our expenses in school. Months will turn to semesters and still won’t call home for allowance but I guess they were also worried as they keep asking if we needed anything and if we are fine. I can remember my mum scolding me a time like that after I set up my first business ever saying that she is still responsible for me and I shouldn’t take that right from her just yet. Even though I tried to make her see the reasons for my action but I guess I understood what she was saying. She just didn’t want me to grow up fast.

Plan your path and be true to yourself...

There is a popular saying that “there is only one person you can never lie to. Yourself” Be true to yourself, go back to the planning board if you think you have missed a step. Don’t dwell all planning on just thoughts. Try to take action. Take risks and they will surely pay up. Do you think Elon Musk doesn’t take risks or Aliko Dangote or Mike Adenuga?

In Conclusion, just look for a way to help out where you might find yourself in. Either at home, office, in a relationship anywhere so that you will be missed when you are not around and that area will be so so had to fill up. Also try to build yourself and don't try to overlook helping others after you have made it yourself. Like my supervisor did back then.

Until next time,
I still remain Trojan...
Keep buzzing🐝🐝🐝

Smiles... It's best that way. On a norms, I don't like receiving hive links in my dm that's why I created a group chat where everyone share their links and I check them daily on my convenient time.
